Live Fundraiser to Benefit Colorado Red Cross & Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation

Updated (7/12/12)

Colorado's Broadcasters Come Through for Wildfire Victims

Last night a statewide effort on the part of Colorado's radio and television broadcasters including public television and radio stations, netted over $220,000 for victims of Colorado's Wildfires.

The efforts raised funds to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief efforts in Colorado and to benefit the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation.

The Colorado Broadcasters Association contributed $5,000 on behalf of Colorado's radio and television stations, which was matched by an anonymous donor who provided up to $40,000 worth of matching donations throughout the night.

Thanks again to Rocky Mountain PBS for donating their studios, offices, 42 phones, 300 phone lines and their toll free number to assist in last night's effort.

About the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation:
The mission of the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation is to provide aid and support to Colorado firefighters, their families and dependents, who are victims of tragedy. The Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation was founded in January 2002 by members of the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters who recognized the tremendous void left in the lives of Colorado fire fighters when tragedy strikes. The founders realized that the men and women who sacrifice their lives, or are injured while saving others, leaves families with very real emotional and financial needs. Many of the needs of the widows/widowers and orphans of fallen fire fighters are overlooked or not covered by the government programs available to families after a tragedy. It was from this financial void that the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation was born. Donations go directly to the families or fire fighters who have fallen, were injured, or who have suffered tragedy.
