CPT12 Launches Statewide Native American Television Channel

Project brings programming to under-served population

(Denver, CO) – Colorado Public Television (CPT12, Channel 12 PBS) has launched a new digital television channel that carries Native American programming throughout the state. FNX Channel (First Nations Experience) programming is broadcast on Colorado Public Television Channel 12.2 and Comcast 251, from 4 p.m. through 4 a.m. everyday.

"FNX Channel brings additional cultural diversity to Colorado Public Television’s broadcast and online content. Educators, students and citizens will find a variety of American Indian, Pacific Islander and other indigenous people’s stories via this service,” said Kim Johnson, CPT12’s President and General Manager. “In educating us about native and indigenous achievement and creativity, this new resource will be a valuable asset to all Coloradans."

FNX is filling a media void by providing programming that is unavailable anywhere else. Telling the stories of Native people in their own words, FNX’s programming is PBS-compliant and includes everything from feature and short films, to documentaries, drama, series, comedy, lifestyle (health/ cooking/ gardening), sports, cultural, news/public affairs, nature programs, animation, and children’s shows. All content strives to illustrate the rich diversity that exists within Native cultures and reflects a true voice of Native American and Indigenous people from around the globe.

FNX is a partnership of the San Manuel band of Mission Indians and public station KVCR in San Bernardino, California. The programming includes TV series, documentaries, short features, public service announcements and films.
