Still cold and slightly snowy…. Out of eggs, so Husband is off to the store. He comes home with all the fixings for Fresh Vegetable and Beef Soup – carrots, onions, celery, cabbage, potatoes, beef stock, and stew beef cubes. Twenty minutes of prep time for peeling and chopping, a quick browning of the meat [...]

A cold windy day, with a skiff of snow…. is that anyway for the weekend to treat us? Am uninspired to do any cooking – hello, Freezer! Have some frozen prepared wings and French fries on hand for days such as this.
The wings cook at 375° and the Fries at 450°…. I compromise at 425° [...]

Several KBDI employees are having birthdays over the next week. In celebration of Brad’s Birthday, Kirby smoked salmon and brought it in with some crackers and cream cheese. Yes, you read this correctly – he home smoked the Salmon.
Two Thoughts:

This blog is the best thing that ever happened to my husband – he is truly enjoying not having to cook! As it really wants to snow today, I am going with comfort foods – meatloaf, homemade mashed potatoes and canned corn (you knew the veggie would be something “canned”, yes?)
I must confess the meatloaf [...]

Woke up rejuvenated this morning – feel like I have a plan…. to continue this good feeling, I decide to pre-plan dinner for tonight, rather than do the “open the cupboard doors and hope the kitchen elves stocked them while I was at work” method – most effective at 6:00 pm, when everyone is hungry!
We [...]

Did ya ever have one of those days/weeks, where you just feel overwhelmed by everything …? That’s the space I am in now… and it doesn’t help that it’s getting raining and cold outside. What also doesn’t help is whining about it – so, time for action!
Plan for dinner: stop by the store, get some [...]

After yesterday’s laziness, the Rowdy Trio is raring to go! On the Agenda today, the Tattered Cover in Lodo and terrorizing (I mean, visiting) KBDI.
Mom has been a fan of the Tattered Cover since I first introduced it to her eight years ago, when the second store was at Cherry Creek. Tattered Cover ( www.tatteredcover.com [...]

A rainy day here in Denver, so the Rowdy Trio decided not to be rowdy, but to relax and be lazy. There was plenty of left-over Chili in the fridge, so why go out?
So, why did I title today’s blog as “Tab and Lemons”? Well, Mom drinks TAB – yes, the original one calorie soda. [...]

Woke up to a real Rocky Mountain Thunder/Snow Storm this morning…. There was lightening, there was thunder, there was hail, and finally there was snow!! My mom LOVED it – my sister, well, let’s just say she was a little less receptive. Poor Kath does not do well on windy, curvy roads. We came up [...]
