Rick Steves - canal vacation

On Jan. 3 I tuned into Ch. 12.2 to see Haunted Texas, and just before that program were scenes of Rick Steves on a canal boat, Papillon. What is the canal, and in what country is it? I became interested in canal boats after reading Roseanna, by Maj Sjowall, which is set on the Gota Canal in Sweden.

Traveling by barge is definitely on my bucket list!  The book you read sounds intriguing – I will have to look into that.
