Joining Lockheed as a tool designer, Kelly Johnson became one of Americas foremost aircraft designers. He developed more than 40 aircraft, from the U-2 to the F-104, and was the head of Lockheeds advanced development projects, known as the Skunk Works. When he retired in 1975, this tool designer had become Lockheeds Senior Vice President.
