Program: Lidia's Italy in America
I have to say that what I am about to point out cannot be lost on everyone except myself. And it is this: Has anyone noticed how fat and overweight and unhealthy-looking Lidia Bastianich is looking??? I have no criticism of her personally of course. . . .But here is the REAL problem...........If I want to end up looking like Lidia all I have to do is eat her food. Which is loaded with fat, fat, fat. I have watched her pour .. . and I mean POUR. ... olive oil on everything she cooks. If I ate that much olive oil in my home - with my husband - we would both be looking like her. I'm sorry. . .but we have to be honest here. Take a look at Lidia's arms - the flab and fat just hangs and swings. The fat is all around her face and abdomen. I am so sorry . . .but I don't want to look like Lidia Biastianich. She is an overweight - fat - woman who should not be giving anything sort of "healthy" food advice. She's a darling heartfelt woman..............but not anyone whose food suggestions I want to follow. I want my health = and I want it for my family too!! GEB. BTW - why doesn't public television require that the "chef's" of their cooking programs be required to share with the public their blood work: cholesterol, HDL, LDL, etc. I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED BEFORE I WOULD FOLLOW THEIR RECIPES.

You can find Lidia’s Italy in America recipesat the program’s website at  http://www.lidiasitaly.com/.
I found the recipe  for Italian American Civic Club Sandwich and a couple of different versions of ministrone.
For a different kind of taste of Italy, you may enjoy watching the Italian Mysteries with subtitles on Colorado Public Television’s channel 12.3.
My personal favorite is Detective Montalbano, but we get alot of good comments on The Octopus, and Don Mateo.
Buon Appetito!
Ciao,
