I watched this show on February 10. It was about Israel and the different foods popular there. The first half was about Israeli food and was quite enjoyable. The second half was about Palestinian food and was full of propaganda, about poor Palestinians being killed by Israelis, Israelis taking "Palestinian land" and harassing Palestinians while they pick olives and showed bias not just from the people making the food but the narrator as well. Why make a show focusing on food a propaganda piece? There was no information from Israelis such as how Palestinians use olive trees as cover to attack Israelis or how the "security barrier" ( not "separation barrier" as mentioned in the show) has cut down on Palestinian terrorism by 97%. It would have been much more enjoyable if the show had just been about food. This is one of the reasons I do not support PBS financially and I am not alone. It is a shame as PBS does have some good programs such as the ones with music.

Hi, we watch globe trekker quite religiously, yet we are wondering if the show is a collection of only old episodes or are there new on going shows currently being produced? Thank you:)
CPT12 Response:
Thanks for writing.
Globe Trekkeris currently feeding 27 episodes of season 11.  The feeds for season 11 started in April 2012 and will stop at the end of March 2013.  The website for Globe Trekker indicates that season 16 and Globe Trekker Around the World are currently in production but there are no dates yet.  I am sure we will keep recording their feeds so stay tuned.
In case you want to peek for yourself here is the link to their website:

I hope this answers your question.
Thanks for watching.

I watched a travel show on China the other night (the one with the young woman as host), and they showed this guy cutting off the head of a snake and dripping its blood into a drink. I couldn't believe it! That's not what I want to see on PBS (or any place else). I was really freaked out. I know China is horrible to animals. That's why I never would want to go there. But do I have to be forced to see something like this unexpectedly?! I do avoid watching gratuitous violence in movies, on TV, or anywhere. I did NOT appreciate being unwittingly subjected to this.
CPT12 Response:
Sorry for the late reply.  You were probably watching Globe Trekker?  This show often goes far beyond popular tourist destinations in order to give viewers a more authentic look at local culture. Presenters usually participate in different aspects of regional life, such as attending a traditional wedding, visiting a mining community, and eating and drinking local fare which may include scenes as you describe.

I imagine people from India would find leather shoes or eating beef offensive.  While some types of scenes may be disturbing they are key to the depicting the true culture of the area.  Different strokes, as they say.

Thanks for your feedback.
