“Made in Japan,” an excerpt from the upcoming film, JOSHUA BREAKSTONE, SOFT HANDS: JAZZ ETHEREAL

Joshua Breakstone, Soft Hands: Jazz Ethereal

Currently in production, JOSHUA BREAKSTONE, SOFT HANDS: JAZZ ETHEREAL profiles jazz guitarist Joshua Breakstone, a New Jersey native who has gained an international reputation for his sophistication and his fiery – and often witty – swinging style.

The above clip, MADE IN JAPAN, is an excerpt from the film, and was shot in Japan in July 2016 by the producing PBS station, Colorado Public Television (CPT12).

Filmed in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Newark, New York City, and Denver, JOSHUA BREAKSTONE, SOFT HANDS: JAZZ ETHEREAL follows the musician as he rehearses with his cello-quartet in preparation for his new Capri Records CD Eighty-Eight; performs with a trio in Denver; meets with Bob Porter and Bob Golden in the studios of WBGO; and is interviewed on air by Arturo Gomez in the studios of KUVO. The documentary also follows Joshua as he travels and performs in Japan, where he has toured over 50 times in the last 30 years.

The documentary and DVD are being produced by Joshua V. Hassel, directed by Adam Reynolds, and edited by Jordan Thompson.

Completion funds of $15,000 are currently required to complete the editing, produce a DVD and distribute the program in 2017 for public media and international broadcast.
