Daniel Sprick: Pursuit of Truth and Beauty

Excited by an image of an airplane that his father had drawn, Daniel Sprick began making art at age 5. Now nearly 60 years later, CPT12 profiles the Colorado resident – always at his easel – in a new film that reveals Sprick’s amazing personal story of artistic inspiration and fulfillment. The above trailer, “Daniel Sprick: On Location” is an excerpt from the upcoming hour-long documentary, DANIEL SPRICK: PURSUIT OF TRUTH AND BEAUTY.

To date, the CPT12 crew has shot footage – or is about to shoot – in the following locations:

  • New Mexico – Sprick painting at the Museum of Outdoor Arts award-winning Element House; at Evoke Gallery in Santa Fe; and visiting with Daniel’s artist friend Michael Bergt.
  • California – Sprick painting seascapes in Monterey.
  • Colorado – At Sprick’s studio as he painted figurative and still life artworks; at the Denver Art Museum, where we interviewed curator Timothy Standring; and visiting with his family in his hometown, Glenwood Springs.
  • New York City – This October at Sprick’s solo exhibition at Peter Marcelle Projects.

The documentary is produced by Colorado Public Television, a PBS affiliate station, Executive Producer Cynthia Madden Leitner, Producer Joshua V. Hassel, Director David Schler, and Associate Producer Beverly Jacobson Schler. In December 2016, the documentary and DVD will be available for screenings, with public media/PBS and international broadcast available in 2017.
