Replay of Ken Burns The Roosevelts
Posted: September 30, 2014 by Gary Toub
I enjoyed watching your airing of Ken Burns The Roosevelts. I would like to watch some of the episodes I missed, but it appears to no longer be available online or through Comast On Demand. Will you be airing it again soon or making it available online again? Is there any other way to watch a few of the episodes other than buying the entire series?

Still no service from PBS here in DeBeque what going on we miss you Thanks Gene
CPT12 Response:
Thanks for your email. DeBeque is outside of our over-the-air broadcast area which provides coverage only on the Front Range. Our main channel, 12.1 is, however, available there through either Dish or DirecTV.

I believe that Rocky Mountain PBS Channel 6 is available in DeBeque over-the-air.

Our website offers streaming of our original productions or other programs we have copyright to and the PBS website has a full offering of PBS programming.

Hello I enjoyed the debate on Mr. Dezzuttis show about GMOs. A more fundamental point is to address the health effects of GMOs. If they are, in fact, safe for human consumption, as they suggest, than there would be no further discussion. Resistence to this legislation is admission of guilt, as it were, that they are hamful. In fact, would they not embrasss the labeling of GMOs? Sincerely Ken Carpenter

Caption makes NO sense on Newsline - disappointing
Posted: September 29, 2014 by Name Withheld
I have been repeatedly disgusted with what appears to be personal discussions along with news not translated to make any sense. Tonight "Sod Off' and "Dumbass" appeared during serious news. Does anyone ever check on what is going out over the air with what is supposed to be translated? Most newscasts make NO sense in content of conversation on NEWSLINE which I would really like to see (in my case read) - just because we can't hear does NOT mean we are stupid and cannot make sense of the written word either.

Denver Union Station celebration
Posted: September 25, 2014 by Edie Bryan
Program: Colorado Inside Out (9 comments)
This Saturday, September 27, the Colorado Rail Passenger Association is celebrating 25 years of advocating for more passenger train service. Come and celebrate with us 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 at the newly refurbished Denver Union Station. Come lift a glass with us, also 2 panels on where we've been and where we're going in the future. Phil Washington, ceo of RTD is featured speaker. This could be included in the "say something nice" segment, maybe by Patty Calhoun, or someone else. 25 years ago Denver Union Station was in danger of being abandoned with AMTRAK trains to go to a metal building in Brighton. The public rose up but there was no group to take up this cause. Ever since, the Colorado Rail Passenger Association, called "Colorail" has advocated Denver Union Station.

I haven't received anything back from my $149 order of Dr David Perlmutter's videos. Any clues as to when it has been shipped? Jim
CPT12 Response:
Jim Samples,

Thank you for contacting Colorado Public Television regarding your pledge for David Perlmutter’s Brain Change package. It looks like the email address entered in the website when you pledged differs from the one you used to send your questions, so I apologize if you didn’t see the receipt we sent on September 17th. I’ve included the receipt below.
Please note that the shipping for thank you gifts can take up to 6 weeks from the point of payment.
This is because we do not pre-order merchandise. We order thank-you gifts from a variety of vendors as pledges are received.  We feel it is a better use of our members’ donations to invest it in our programming, rather than having those resources tied up in a warehouse of non-returnable merchandise.  The Perlmutter items are on order, and a fantastic group of volunteers will package and ship them out as soon as they arrive.

@ Joan - The WiFi horse may have left your barn but at our house it's back inside and SHUT OFF! All our computers are wired (faster and more secure that way anyway). WiFi, cordless DECT phones, "smart" meters and other sources of microwave radiation will be gone from anyone's house or business who is health conscious. I could bury you in information but for starters just watch Dr. Martin Pall's 15 min. presentation before the Oregon State Legislature House Committee on Health Care, 2014. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFBYRfmqS8Q#t=173

Bring on the Debate!

As someone who once thought that smart meters and the smart grid were actually a real solution to climate change, I have come to realize after four years of independent investigation into this issue that nothing could be further from the truth. Where are the studies that show a cradle to grave analysis showing actual carbon reductions? There are none, and the industry relies on false propaganda and paid off scientists to make these claims, as well as those dismissing fire and health risks. The manufacturing and energy consumption of millions of "smart" meters themselves and associated wireless infrastructure is significant. Smart Meters save no energy according to Reuters: http://bit.ly/gvpYxZ The reality is that if we allow utilities and corporations to dictate the solutions to climate change, then we are in trouble before we even begin. The real solutions to climate change are all about localization, including wresting power from monopoly utilities and putting the power back in the hands of local communities. Of course the utility industry hates that idea. Wireless tech is one of the fastest sources of carbon emissions- to say that smart meters will help with climate change is deeply misleading. If people had said "oh well I guess the horse has left the barn" when DDT was still being sprayed on children to control lice and we began to realize the dangers, how many more kids with cancer or other developmental problems would we have today? We need to take responsibility- both personally, professionally, and as a community for reining in this toxic technology as more research surfaces, especially where our kids are being exposed. Thank you to CPT12 for airing this crucial and independent controversial film! Let the open debate continue! You can find out more about smart meter deployments and successful community responses to it by going to http://stopsmartmeters.org

Thank you for airing the documentary about smart meters. Skeptics as well as Interested viewers might want to watch the European documentary "Microwaves, Science and Lies" to learn about the international debate concerning the safety of microwave radiofrequencies. Many Americans are woefully misinformed about the science that is shaping policy in other countries, especially environmentalists promoting smart meters. Nations dominated by their military-industrial complex are ignoring biological impacts. Not only is the wireless industry using the same techniques as the tobacco industry, but it is using the same scientists. The burden of proof is on the industry to prove that the technologies are safe.

Program: Take Back Your Power (11 comments)
On Saturday, 400,000 people participated in a historic climate march in New York, with millions around the world. Given the urgency of climate change and capitalism business model of encouraging greed and profits before human society, we need to stop falling for false solutions - like smart meters - to climate change. All electrons are local. The sale of kilowatt hours is based on the archaic centralized utility monopoly model. We need to urge our local politicians to confront the electrical-industrial complex which serves its own profits before the needs of the individual. Smart meters only benefit the utility, the manufacturers, and politicians who erroneously champion them in order to boost their image as green. In all likelihood, most politicians are too deeply in the pockets of industry, so we will need to do it ourselves. There is an inherent conflict between an electricity grid which relies on base load generating power and the fundamental transformation to renewable energy based on distributed small scale solar and wind. Utilities will never make the change to renewable energy if it kills their core business model of centralized energy production. We live in a time of both great peril and great opportunity. We desperately need leadership to forge a path based on wise understanding of what a truly sustainable smart grid would look like. We need to revise the architecture of the power grid before escalating crises force us to deal with it. Tremendous opportunities lie ahead if we can see past the archaic centralized electricity generation model, which can no longer sustain contemporary economies and societies, to a more economic and efficient scenario whereby free renewable sources are prioritized and local opportunities for power generation are pursued.

"Take Back Your Power" is Neither Scientific Nor Responsible
Posted: September 23, 2014 by Gary Nakarado
Program: Take Back Your Power (11 comments)
Smart Meters and the "Smart Grid" are actually important elements of moving toward a sustainable world. Take Back Your Power is a hatchet job that seems to argue that because early smart meters caused fires the whole concept is evil. I am certainly not saying trust the utilities, or the NSA, but this "documentary" is using things like scary music and even an elderly lady talking about Nazis to spread fear about a potentially important element ins reducing the damage caused by our present energy system. The only "scientist" on the show, Dr. Timothy Schoechle, is quoted on your site as follows: "In this Skype interview, Dr. Timothy Schoechle outlines his concerns about "smart" meters, including possible invasions of privacy and wasted taxpayer money." Those are issue that are real and worth working to address, although smart meters are certainly not the top of anyone's list of major privacy or wasted taxpayer money concerns. However, most of the show is simply irresponsible fear mongering. KBDI owes the public a real debate, with real Colorado experts.

I am appalled that a so-called public station can, with impunity, broadcast blatant propaganda regarding an issue that is on the upcoming ballot. Unless you are planning to allow the other side, affirmed in recent articles in National Geographic, The Atlantic, and The New Yorker magazines, their air time, I consider this outright electioneering which is not acceptable to the FCC.

If this program is as unbalanced as I've noted in a preview of it, do you plan to give a chance to the "other side" to rebut it? With Gary Null, Joe Mercola, Mike Evans and Percy Schmeiser in it, it HAS to be heavily one side against GMO. ALL have been discredited as quacks and have agendas of their own or are selling quack cures. Let's hope you aren't going to let it end with this clearly one sided piece...not too much in the "PUBLIC" interest.

"TAKE BACK YOUR POWER" Is an embarrassment to anyone who has donated to KBDI
Posted: September 20, 2014 by Gary Nakarado
This program is doing a horrible disservice to the community. While there are issues that are important regarding radar dangers, care with electronic and magnetic fields, etc, this production is just like handing out loaded weapons to 4 year old boys---it is dangerously misleading, and potentially far more damaging than any genuine danger posed by the smart grid. I am a former Colorado Public Utility Commissioner, and KBDI owes the state an apology, and genuine and valid information, though this program is causing damage far being KBDI's ability to bring genuine information to bear. I have been away for several years, but I was always a fan and frequent contributor to KBDI--this is so very disappointing... WE NEED PUBLIC BROADCASTING, BUT NOT THIS!

Program: Devil's Advocate with Jon Caldara (6 comments)
Sir, I would like to see a follow up video to the one posted on Youtube June 6, 2014 titled; the ins and outs of political polling with Magellan Strategies. Magellan Strategies (1685 Boxelder St., Louisville, CO 80027) David Flaherty, CEO. Elkhurst communications (1685 Boxelder St., Louisville, CO 80027). David Flaherty, CEO. One company is the blemish free face (Magellan A BBB rating) to the other which practices less than reputable practices (Elkhurst F- BBB rating). Again, they are the same entity residing in the same office. My opinion is that this is a means of erecting a smoke screen to shield questionable practices. Elkhurst is a robo-caller with a very bad history which a Google search can verify. Magellan’s information is collected from Elkhurst. I am curious to know how political data can be collected when the majority of individuals receiving these calls let it go to voicemail or simply hang up. I am sure that the FCC and BBB can provide more information on the frequency and number of complaints. This is the data used to change voting districts and sworn to in state courts. Additionally, I am unable to find David Flaherty in the University of Delaware 2001 yearbook as a senior which leads me to further question Magellan Strategies. Regards, William Sluyter

Comment on 3rd Party and Independent Candidates for Go.

Program: Colorado Inside Out (9 comments)
. I would lfirst and most importantly like to say thank you to CPT12 for showing Colorado Decides with the candidates for governor from the Green Party and the Libertarian Party and the independent candidate. It is as the panel said about Senator Udall, somewhat disapointing that the candidates from the major parties do not think they should take the time and effort to speak at the same time as the other candidates, but is nice that public TV is helping to provide full information as to who and what will be put on the Colorado ballets. It seems like democracy and freedom should work better when the public is informed and know what is and is not on the ballot. I was a little disappointed that Eric Sonderman did not bring up specific issues with the candidates on the program today. If he were to say he liked one candidate over the other it seems like he should say why; so that that his valuable media time is not just a quick advertisement, but a real concern for an answer to a question. There were excellent issues in the debate. The issue of economics and the Green candidate, Harry Hempy made it clear he thinks it would help communities to have a higher minimum wage especially in cities like Boulder where the cost of living is higher. It eould help those would get a higher wage and it would help the community because they would no longer be at such a low income level they would have to go on Medcaid for healthcare and their tax base would be higher for the schools and other public services. Of course we know the Libertarians do not want anything regulated, so they would be happy to leave the pay up to businesses, which is what took place in the early 1900's befor the regulations of child labor laws. However the Libertarian' view was clear, but the independent you mentioned appreciating, Mike Dunafon, was hard to understand and stated a means to improve the economy was something about paying people who aren't working. I did not know if he was talking about the extension on unemployment, if he did not believe in unemployment or in disability checks. I have not seen any statistics that say there is a large problem of supporting non-disabled people in Colorado. So I do hope you will explain why you seemed to like Mike Donafon better than the other two candidates where spoke with more prisisly to the issues. I do know at one place Harry Hempy said he did not like how he was answering the question oabout working with Republican and Democrat legislators, but he did make it clear he thought he could do what would be needed.
CPT12 Response:

info most important
Posted: September 14, 2014 by scott Walden
I understand the need for funding broadcasts, the cost of producing film footage, salaries, expenses, etc.. These info programs, are they put out for profit, or for the peoples need to know? It saddens me to think that on issues of our freedoms, and lawful rights, even our health, and the unlawful abuses being covertly served upon us by the upper one percent, will not be heard, possibly until its too late for millions of people, because of no means to pay for information that should be shouted from every mountain top, over and over until Americans "get it". These exclusive "gifts" hold a lot of very important facts as well as expert, credible sources which go a long way when convincing skeptics of the reality of our present, near future, which will be very bad for all except those pulling the strings. Sure Im confused... because I am missing vital info. There is a lot of misleading info out there. As a semi skeptic, its hard to believe that my school class president who became an atty., who ran for public office, state then federal, stepped through a portal, and suddenly wants to lie, deceive, and enslave every thing he's/she's valued all their lives.Sorry, babbling on. If your presenting info, give it all. No one likes being told " here is the answer that will stop these evils ", "you can have it for $$$ Thanks, great programming your all I watch

Program: Take Back Your Power (11 comments)
I just saw this provocative and thought-provoking program --- having worked around radiation from radioactive sources, I am hugely aware of both the benefits and the damage from alpha/beta/neutron radiation; it might be worth reading the book "Electronic Silent Spring" by Katie Singer. Perhaps the most immediate would be concerns for microwave towers on or near any K-12 schools, and with what looks like the implementation of wireless tablets for use by all students/all grades within the next few years (i.e. "going paperless") in the St. Vrain Valley School District. So far, it looks like Boulder County (in particular, Longmont & Boulder) have opted-out of the smart meter program (see http://www.timescall.com/ci_15914555), but I have lots of questions about the safety of our wireless technology --- and even if we decide to decreasel/remove much of our EMR (electromagnetic radiation) footprint, there are no fewer than 5 other wireless networks from our nearest neighbors --- this could become quite a thorny issue, the results of which might have much farther reaching implications, with the potential of leaving its mark, both physically and emotionally, upon everyone. Imagine having to ask people to reduce or even surrender their wireless devices for what could be very real health concerns --- for many, it could be akin to asking someone addicted to meth, crack or heroin to quit cold turkey. I think there could be some very scary times ahead....

Public TV and radio

Hi I am an Australian currently touring America. I would love to be able to support your station but I have a very limited income and at the age of 71 always looking at ways of supporting myself. What I love is the concept of Public TV and Radio and wonder if you would put me in contact with the head of your network with the view of setting up a similar network in Australia. Currently the Australian Government changing the frequencies of commercial television and radio stations freeing up more frequencies for more commercial and free to air stations. I would love to be able to be involved in the introduction of Public TV and Radio in Australia as I believe your in missions and visions. Australia needs a Public TV station as we do have public radio stations, mainly local and ethnic, however there is no independent TV channel. Regards Greg Smith

Thank you for your email. Welcome to our country.
Probably the best place to start would be the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s website and the PBS website.

Reason for the questions - addition

Program: 9/11: Explosive Evidence - Experts Speak Out (2 comments)
I posted a previous comment on the documentary, and wish to add a summary note: Instead of calling for a independent investigation, simply generate a petition or other lobby device calling to prosecute the crimes of 9/11. If building 7 collapse is a suspect crime, then call for the criminal investigation of Larry Silverstein (sp), then lease holder for the properties in question. In this legal process, the prosecutor would be charged with creating the forensic investigation, hearings, grand jury, etc. If you simply do an independent investigation, there is no reason for this report to gain entrance to a congressional or judicial panel or court of law. It will sit in a drawer. But if you approach this legally, as in criminal prosecution, (events on 9/11 were crimes), then the entire investigative process is transparent.
CPT12 Response:
Thank you for your emails.
A thorough  criminal investigation of the events of 9/11 seems like a no brainer. I am surprised it was not done.

The reason for the questions
Posted: September 12, 2014 by Name Withheld
Program: 9/11: Explosive Evidence - Experts Speak Out (2 comments)
I have seen your documentary coverage of the unanswered questions regarding the crimes of Sept. 11, 2001. I want to thank you, as others have also done, for CPT's courage in airing this type of material. From the days following the events, to present day, the unofficially answered questions have continued to be filed in the "conspiracy" box by the holders of the official UN-investigated events. Here is the problem: the failure of the previous administration to treat these events as a crime first, before calling it terrorism, avoided the legal process usually engaged in for any crimes on US soil- forensic investigations, grand jury, evidence hearings, and so on. The "conspiracy theories", generated from the obvious questions gained from scientific inquiries and knowledge, then provided the perfect cover for the absence of the required legal processes which would have officially produced the answers. The irony of the truth in evidence, in fact, confirmed the information generated from the questions, and confirmed in fact, there was a conspiracy. Again, all of this could have been avoided had the law simply been followed. The size of the crime does not justify skipping the forensic and legal due processes which are designed to reach the truth and prosecute the individuals responsible. Without the transparency gained in legal investigations where prosecutors join with all the experts required to produce the reconstructed event, the public was simply given a narrative and all the science and technology which filled in the gaps, got filed in the conspiracy box. It will take an act of congress and or the executive authority of the president to adjudicate the crimes of 9/11.

I have been watching your incredible programming. I find it astonishing that there are so many stupid, closed minded people that don't beleive the crisis of GMO's in our food. They should do more research on the subject, or shut up!! Why should they care, that we want real food again. Colorado has GMO labeling on the ballot for Nov. finally! Yeah!!! Please vote yes, so we have the choice to avoid GMO products, with labeling. You don't have to buy it if you disagree, but let us decide what we put into our bodies.

I think it is very irresponsible for CPT12 to air programs by charlatans like Gary Null. I think most pseudo-science is harmless, but encouraging people with real health problems to bet their life on his nonsense can actually have devastating results in peoples lives. You should really think about the consequences of your actions.

GUEST INTERVIEW- AUTHOR SUE GOUDY -Raped at 3 by next door neighbor
Posted: September 7, 2014 by Janneth Whitworth
Good Day to The Programming Department! My name is Janet and I represent Author/Speaker Sue Goudy who would like to possibly guest on any of your program and she lives in Monument Colorado. Two months shy of her third birthday, Susan Goudy was sexually abused by a sixteen-year-old neighbor. Although she unconsciously buried this horrific experience deep within herself, the deep-rooted fear that resulted continued to influence her decisions, happiness, relationships, health, and more for many years. In The Journey from Fear to Love Is Shorter Than You Think, Goudy describes the awakening into life that finally freed her from the mental, physical, and spiritual chains of her past. A memoir written from a spiritual point of view, this book is sprinkled with self-help tips that will give readers the tools they need to get “present and focused” and to take an honest look at what they are or are not doing to create the lives they currently live. Goudy knows from firsthand experience that living in the shadow of your past can cause you to forget that you have the power to take charge of your life. No matter what may or may not lie in your own past, let Susan Goudy help you become more awake, aware, clear, and empowered. It’s time to stop being a victim and to leave excuses behind. It’s time to realize just how powerful and wonderful you are, have been, and will always be! Sue would like to share her story with your audience and was hoping we schedule an interview? When you have a moment we would love to hear back from you. Being electrosensitive, I feel like I won't live to my next birthday. We got our RF meter removed and an analog utility meter installed on our farm. We suddenly have healthy bees back again and I am starting to feel better each day. Get smart. Get WIRED. Send your wireless devices to the recycling dump. Save the bees. From my personal experience & 1000s of hours of medical and scientific reading, I firmly believe ccd STARTs when wireless Radiofrequency radiation stresses the bees immune system, additional chemical sprays potentiate / synergize the environmental toxicity on the bees immune system, then the bees cannot fight off infection & verroa mite infestation, just like homeless street people tend to get parasites because they are worn down like this, too... then the bees get anemic from blood loss of verroa mite infestation and die a suffering terrible death, which I witnessed in our garden again and again as I also became sicker and sicker from the radiofrequency utility meter on my home. I am concerned about the program that aired on August 29th about the Douglas County School District voucher program. 1. Why did John not have any opposing views on the program. He only had two men who obviously had slanted views of the voucher program. The only real example they used is the child who had issues in the usual learning environment. They spoke of their child not having the opportunity to educated correctly because of his learning disability. This simply isn't true. There are programs set up in most school for those students who have learning issues. There is a school that deals with these students on a larger scale. They only used this one students issues. Most of the student's parents who want the voucher program are wanting them for religious schools, which is not allowed in the separation of church and state issues. The other item they brought up was about getting a better education in a private school. This simply isn't true. Are private schools better than public schools? New book says ‘no’. A book that offers a true intellectual study (Christopher Lubienski, a professor in the Department of Educational Organization and Leadership at the College of Education at University of Illinois, and Sarah Theule Lubienski, professor of mathematics education in the College of Education at the University of Illinois. says the opposite of the old thought that private schools produce better students. Here is the Web Page with information on their studies. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2013/11/05/are-private-schools-better-than-public-schools-new-book-says-no/ This program is about the effort to privatize public schools. Companies promoting educational test are paid enormous sums of money to produce, advertise and implement these tests. Douglas County School District's current effort to "villainize" The teacher's union (which DCSD"s BOE has deposed of) still tries to blame the union for the woes of the school district. I would love to see an honest program that brings in intelligent people who know the real facts about DCSD's issues with the administration (Liz Fagen and the BOE) and the issues that concern the Teachers, Parents and students of Douglas County School District. I saw a message posted from August 2, 2014 when I was reviewing Comments. It requested you to repeat a series from back in 1981 called "A Town Like Alice." I couldn't agree more with the poster's comments: please repeat it because it was excellent, moody, instructional about WWII, and a great romance story. What more could a viewer want? It was one of the best public television shows ever broadcast here in the USA. It started Bryan Brown's career (short though it was) as a movie star, but that's just a by-the-by. It really was a terrific series.

Currently there are three people awaiting execution: 1) Nathan Dunlap who was condemned for shooting and killing four people at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant. 2) Sir Mario Owens who was convicted and received a jury's death determination in 2008 for the murder of a young couple, Javad Marshall-Fields and his fiancee, Vivian Wolfe. The victims were prosecution witnesses in a murder trial involving Owens. 3) Robert Ray who ordered *************************************************************************** Bob Beauprez bypasses KKK member, attacks Hickenlooper as most “extreme” governor Come on for the PEOPLE Not A PEOPLE! Program: Colorado Inside Out (9 comments)
I am a dedicated watcher/listener to your program and typically will watch it in repeat even though I have seen it only a couple of days prior simply because I enjoy and appreciate (and am frequently edified by) the intelligent commentary of the panelists. A couple of weeks ago, I had the happy occasion to be watching and listening when Susan Greene and Eli Stokols joined the panel. Susan Greene was particularly impressive as she brought a level of awareness, insight, depth and enlightenment heretofor demonstrated only when the best of your "regular" best panelists were at their very best. Eli Stokols was not far behind, but then I think Susan pretty much left everybody in her dust on that program. That same night, I watched and was extremely impressed by Kyle Clark's appearance on the Caldara program. As good as are David Kopel, Patty Calhoun and Pen Tate (and they are good !!!!), I would urge that you try to bring back Susan as often as possible as well as Eli and Kyle on occasion as well. Perhaps even consider adding another chair around the table so as to give voice for more wisdom and wit.

I live in Estes Park and my Baja Broadband service doesn't offer your channel. How do i get your signal??? Do you have an online streaming channel? Thanks, PT
CPT12 Response:
Thank you for your email.
Because of the terrain in the  area, Estes Park does not receive much of our over the air signal. Even a large outdoor antenna might not do the trick.
However, Colorado Public Television Channel 12.3 is live streamed over the internet at:
http://www.cpt12.org/watch/mhz-worldview-live.cfm

The program Colorado Inside Out is live streamed at:
http://www.cpt12.org/watch/cio-live.cfm

Many of the programs that we air on Channels 12.1 and 12.2 are available to be streamed on demand at:
http://video.cpt12.org/

In your area, US Cable carries our  Channel 12.1 on channel 12, Direct TV carries 12.1 and 12.3 and Dish carries 12.1.

Poverty experience challenge between Senator Kerr and David Dobson
Posted: August 18, 2014 by Lorelei Kalua
Democratic Senator Kerr will be taking a tour of ACS Community L.I.F.T. on Wednesday, Aug 20 at noon. Accompanying him will be David Dobson, Republican Candidate for the House of Representatives. Together they will experience what its like to go to a local food pantry, just to make ends meet, as a member of society living on poverty level income We are excited to host both Senator Kerr and Candidate Dobson at our facility and take them on a unique experience. They will be challenged against each other to complete the intake interview, shop in the food bank, get assistance in the free medical clinic, choose a new job path and prepare a snack with the food they chose while shopping. The question is...who will prepare the healthiest snack? ACS Community L.I.F.T. has at its core the mission to serve the Barnum and neighboring communities through a wraparound service model. ACS utilizes a whole person approach to help individuals in need with: their emergent disparities through the food pantry and supportive services, their health disparities in the free medical clinic, and their economic disparities through workforce development opportunities. The staff at ACS Community L.I.F.T. work hard to be innovative in the solutions provided and to find ways to .....Not enable, Not destroy, but to HELP individuals become truly self-sufficient and out of the dependency system.

The facts are everywhere that we are being sprayed by the government all kinds of chemicals with out our permission. It's killing the trees, plants and us!! They are putting up billboards across the country. I just watched your special about the bees dying. I would believe they are dying also from the huge amounts of chemicals being dumped on us all. We need a station to help get the truth out. Please do a documentary on the geoengineering of our climate. I just watched a good news story by David Knight at InfoWars video. Hi CPT12, My name is Ande Anderson, and I am the co-owner of AVAIYA FILMS out of Boulder. We are premiering Reverend Yolanda’s Old Time Gospel Hour The Movie this September, 2014 at 4 Colorado venues. This is the first of 3 AVAIYA films educating and promoting awareness for LGBT equality. You can watch the empowering and fun film trailer here: (www.GoYolanda.com) I'm emailing to ask if you'd like to include filmmaker iKE ALLEN (based out of Boulder) & Rev. Yolanda in your programming in some way. Perhaps after the film premiere, we could air it on PBS? Or perhaps iKE & Yolanda could be guests on Colorado Inside Out? We are open to all possible ideas you might have. The press release for the film is included below and I hope you're inspired to help us in our pursuit of creating a world that works for everyone. Thank you for all you do! Ande Anderson, MS, RD Co-Founder of AVAIYA Are you ready for The Rocky Horror Picture Show of Country Gospel Music? AVAIYA Media Presents ? Reverend Yolanda is a licensed interfaith minister and multi-award winning performer, holding titles including the #1 song of 2013 by Out Voice, The GLBT CD Ranking Chart, and the 2014 MAC Award Winner. The music in the film is spectacular, especially combined with Yolanda’s catchy sayings like, “The higher the hair the closer to God!” and “Everything works together for our good,” and “We are angels and we're struggling to be human.” As the film unfolds, you will discover that Reverend Yolanda is not so different than you are. She lives in an apartment in Brooklyn, her husband works for the IRS, and she even has bad hair days. This rich and diverse new film will have you laughing, singing and letting go of judgments you may not have known you even had. Through this film, Reverend Yolanda reminds each of us of our human connection, that we are whole and complete just the way we are, and that the world is filled with wondrous awe and mystery. Just wanted to say that I enjoy Sounds on 29th. It's quirky and uninhibited and most of the bands are pretty good. It would be great to have better comedians and when you hire these comedians that they have an act worth watching. Two comedians a night would be better than just one. Sid Pink....I don't know what to say. He is the sort of comedian that you are embarrassed for him, but you still enjoy his haphazard and unconventional hosting, all the time wondering when he will slip up and say something politically incorrect or just off the wall. Next Meal: Engineering Food

Program: Next Meal: Engineering Food (1 comment)
This program seems biased towards promoting GMO food and seems to play on American nationalism to promote GMO food (e.g. "the Europeans aren't interested in something new from America"). These biases are due to the choice of the people interviewed. I would be curious to learn more of GMO studies on animals. Specifically test results from animals fed the GMO foods we are presently sold; results of feeding GMO foods to generations of an animal species. There is literature stating that animals cannot reproduce after the third generation when each generation is fed a GMO diet. Obviously this literature is biased against GMO food, but I am curious as to the credibility of that information. It is not enough to wave away European concerns about GMOs by stating they aren't interested in new things from America, I cannot dismiss the GMO concerns of other countries, just by stating that other countries in the world have a "lengthy" testing process for GMO foods. And I cannot accept that England is wary of GMO foods due to the mad cow scare they underwent. I truly believe there is more to this, and unfortunately this television program did not provide the answers I am looking for when trying to ascertain the safety of ingesting GMO foods for a length of time. Thanks very much for the show, however, as this is an issue close to my and other Coloradans hearts. The more documentaries on the subject will give us more information, which we greatly need.

Program: Seeds of Death: Unveiling the Lies of GMOs (14 comments)
Gary Null doesn't publicize information that can't be backup up and documented from known credible sources. It is important that people at least need to be informed regarding the sources of the food they eat by having the foods they consume labeled "contains GMO ingredients" or "GMO free". Most of the safety research on GMO's has been funded by the very corporations producing them with the stamp of approval coming from the FDA, which is headed by people who...wait for it...used to work for the very corporations producing GMO's. That sounds like a HUGE conflict of interest and I seriously doubt the credibility of anything coming from the FDA as a result. The "jury is out" regarding the independently verified long term safety studies of GMO's. The bottom line is that YOU, the American citizen, are being USED as a LAB RAT concerning your consumption of GMO-containing foods. Do you really want to be a lab rat helping to boost the profits of these huge multi-national corporations? Think about it. What to do you ask? Stay away from as much GMO as you possibly can for the time being. Right now, these giant corporations have paid millions of dollars to prevent labeling initiatives from becoming law. Think about it - if these products were REALLY safe, then why are these huge corporations spending so much money to prevent labeling? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out!!! How to avoid GMO's AND pesticides without GMO labeling: BUY ORGANIC. If the label says "certified organic" then by law, those products cannot contain ANYTHING GMO. By the way, the label jargon "All Natural" is 100% MEANINGLESS. Ignore it. Buy organic whenever possible.

Good morning CBDI TV 12 News Team, We wanted to reach out to you today to send you the press release pasted below about the exciting debut of the sport of FootGolf in the Denver metro area, as we think it will appeal to your viwers as a great way to enjoy life, be active, and enjoy the outdoors in the Denver area. The Colorado FootGolf Association (CFGA) is happy to provide more information, photos, and arrange interviews, if desired. In addition, we would like to extend a media pass to one staff member and one guest to attend, participate in, and cover the Colorado FootGolf Kickoff Tournament. There will be a number of great photo and interview opportunities as well as a media kit available to better provide you and your viewership with an insider’s experience of FootGolf. Please contact CFGA Founder, Matt Collins, by Sunday, August 10th, to reserve your media pass and guest pass. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Matt Collins Founder, Colorado FootGolf Association 720-588-0226 ColoradoFGA@gmail.com www.coloradofootgolf.com FootGolf Phenomenon Arrives in the Denver Metro Area Denver, CO – July 29, 2014 The newly established Colorado FootGolf Association (CFGA) will introduce one of the hottest new sports played on a golf course to the Denver area on Sunday, August 17th - FootGolf. The sport, played by kids, teens, and adults of all ages, is a unique hybrid of soccer and golf, endorsed by the PGA of America and supported by the Federation of FootGolf (FIFG). The sport of FootGolf has been recognized and has seen continuous growth in countries all over the world and the FIFG currently holds nearly 20 member country leagues including the American FootGolf League. FootGolf follows many of the same rules as traditional golf. FootGolf is playing as either 9 holes or 18 holes, depending on the course, and each hole is regulation size, at 21-inches in diameter. One 18-hole round of FootGolf typically lasts an average of three hours and the only equipment needed is a Size 5 soccer ball and proper golf attire. In the debut tournament on August 17th at the Family Sports Center in Centennial, groups of up to four people will tee off starting at 5:30 p.m. from designated tee areas. Players must kick the ball down the “fairway” toward the flag and eventually kick the ball into the hole. All the obstacles of a traditional golf course are in play and must be handled accordingly. Each hole has a par of either three, four, or five. Paul Browne, Co-Founder of the Colorado FootGolf Association, sees the sport as a win-win for everyone. “The introduction of FootGolf to the Denver metro area promises to not only add a fun and exciting sport to the golf course experience and give participants a great way to be active and enjoy the beautiful Colorado outdoors, but will also increase the number of customers for our partner golf courses,” says Browne. The August 17th Kickoff Tournament is open to 40 players of all ages, with no experience necessary. The entry fee is $30/person and will feature prizes for lowest total score, longest kick, and closest to the pin. Interested participants can register for the tournament by visiting www.coloradofootgolf.com. recent airing of "Seeds of Death"

Program: Seeds of Death: Unveiling the Lies of GMOs (14 comments)
I was shocked and horrified that CPT12 would choose to air such a radical movie as "Seeds of Death", which masquerades as a documentary about GMO foods. The amount of misinformation and propaganda in this movie was breathtaking. I seldom use the word "evil", but in this case, the blatant distortions in this movie will surely do harm, and CPT12 is clearly complicit. I have seen better-sourced material on the cover of the National Enquirer: what's next, a documentary about how all of Congress has been abducted by aliens and replaced by humanoid replicas? Public television should aspire to educating, as well as entertaining, the public: in the past I have been impressed by the efforts of public TV and radio across the country to act as an antidote to the low quality of the commercial media. Is there no-one in authority at your station who has even a rudimentary science education, or a rudimentary level of skepticism? If you cannot do even the most basic quality control of the kinds of information you present, then I question whether your station deserves to exist. A brief phone call to any of our excellent local Universities would have prevented this embarrassment. You owe all your viewers and donors a public apology. Peter Olins, PhD

STAND FOR ISRAEL?
Posted: July 27, 2014 by Name Withheld
I am appalled that it was an announcement to stand for Israel. I cannot believe that anyone would stand for Israel for what they are doing to poor innocent children and the poor. It's a shame on the world and those who think this behavior is ok of Israel. They are wrong. Not only that how the story is being told by the United States Reporters is absolutely a disgrace. Israel need to be looked into. That state is not what people think they are.. It's such a shame for them the Jews to forget how much pain they were in not that long ago. 1939 until 1944 One fact remain ISRAEL did not lift one FINGER to help them when they were in pure HELL. now the united states want to side with Israel and we Coloradoans not all, says it's ok to hurt a defenseless people. who only want food, water, paid a decent salary, not accept scraps from Israel as they live on the Gaze strip in PRISON. I guess what Israel will do is ethnic cleanse the Palestinians as they have with all the Black Jews in their country. Orders from the Israel president himself. Is it enough hate? WHY support such actions?

Alfredo Zalce
Posted: July 26, 2014 by Name Withheld
Hi. Sometime between 6 and 8 am this morning I saw a story on Alfredo Zalce. I thought it was one of the Irish sounding morning shows that did it, but I can't find anything like that on the schedule. Nor can I find anything about Zalce when I do a search. Any chance you can point me to the right show to find out more? They showed a lot of his works and it was wonderful. But a google search on his name hasn't provided me with many images at all. Maybe if I could get back to that segment I could get somewhere. Thanks
CPT12 Response:
Thanks for writing.  According to the schedule, we did not have anything on in reference to Alfredo Zalce at the times specified.  Could it have been channel 6?  I notice on their schedule that they had a program on call Cyberchase – A change of Art.  You can contact them at www.rmpbs.org.

I hope this helps.

All the news broadcasts have a spin to it. Just watching the major US networks the last 2 weeks is a testimony to that. Providing other views, even if influenced and or controlled by others, gives me a better view of what is going on in the world. The US mass media is not as free as one would imagine and sadly so. Just consider the Gaza conflict. Please keep being as independent as possible. Thank you!!! V.Spina

Tragedy and Courage on the Bering Sea By John Sabella
Posted: July 24, 2014 by Name Withheld
Last week I watched an incredible documentary, Tragedy and Courage on the Bering Sea, by John Sabella. It was one of the most riveting documentaries I have ever watched. The story seamlessly moves from the original fire to one tragic event after another; while the Captain maintains his focus, as well as control over the men aboard his failing, fishing vessel. The documentary is a true nail biter, and kept me on the edge of my seat. It is definitely a,"do not miss" film.

Last night's report on the children in Gaza
Posted: July 24, 2014 by Jo Anne Torkildson
My husband and I are aware of the bias in your news reporting, and therefore are pretty cautious when we occasionally watch a news broadcast on your channel. We sat with our mouths open, appalled, at the more than 10 minute report you aired last evening which was a SKYPE interview with a woman I believe was from UNICEF. It was about the plight of the Palestinian children in the Gaza strip being shelled by Israel. While there is no doubt that innocent children being killed is a tragedy, there was no mention that this tragedy was caused solely by the Hamas terrorist group. Palestine Hamas terrorists are the aggressors and Israel is defending itself. Hamas puts its civilians deliberately in harm's way in order to protect their weaponry, and they depend on biased news outlets such as yourself to broadcast these heart-rending images across the world in order to garner sympathy and support. Israel is defending itself, and takes extra-ordinary measures to warn civilians in Gaza of when and where they will be bombing. If Hamas laid down their weapons tomorrow, there would be peace. If Israel laid down their weapons tomorrow, they would be wiped off the face of the map. How can you not report the truth about their side of the story? You are being used as stooges and I am totally disgusted that a channel that promotes itself as balanced in reporting can behave in such a manner. We will not turn on your channel again, and we will encourage our friends to boycott you as well. Shame, shame, shame on you, to treat our strongest ally in the world in such a manner.
ALJIZIRA NEWS
Posted: July 23, 2014 by Name Withheld
While scrolling through the television channels the other day , I momentarily stopped on ch. 12 to hear what I perceived the Hamas reporting of the Hamas incited attack on Israel , from an Arab viewpoint , assessing the ISRAELIS , as aggressors, as the Arab journalist reported the Hamas TERRORISTS , as FREEDOM FIGHTERS ... This is ridiculous and WRONG . Israel is a 5 million people country , entitled to their right to be sovereign AND not to face rocket launches from Gaza . Hamas is NOT freedom fighting ,FREESOM FIGHTING !! Please ... building concrete tunnels, abducting Israeli civilians, and torturing them , and a footnote , lying to Israel while Israel supplied the concrete to build these BUNKERS !! ISRAEL ALSO GIVES CARE , financial and otherwise to theses Palestinians , suing for PEACE, constantly . What do they get in return ? TERROR ... I AM OFFENDED BY YOUR PROGRAMMING , AND please DO NOT TELL ME IT IS BALANCED JOURNALISM AND THEY HAVE A " RIGHT " TO THEIR OPINION ... and tell me , would you be broadcasting this behind their lines , free and liberated , that is , the Israeli viewpoint ? I hardly think so ... Offended in Loveland
CPT12 Response:
Thanks for your note. We are looking into the rapidly changing programming situation with our global coverage.
We do not currently have Al Jazeera news in our lineup.  Many months ago we had aired some programming from them as part of our CPT 12.3 Mhz Worldview service, but it is my understanding that that is not longer part of their schedule either.

Not to be dismissive of the content concerns, but first I would like to trace down what you saw when and where.   Do you know approximately what time you were watching?  Is it possible it was an excerpt from Al Jazeera included in somebody else’s programming? Or did one of our programming providers do some last minute breaking news switch without letting us know?

Any additional information would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Comcast bad ethics

Hi, I wanted to talk to John Resudo from the Independent about Comcast as he was talking about them today Sunday July 20, 2014 on his show about charges etc. I have written them twice and they haven't replied yet and as the guy said on the news the other day they would cancel his account at his request and they are doing the same to me and no response to my request to cancel my basic cable that I was kind of forced into subscribing to when I switched to roof antenna over 2 years ago because of their treatment to me since the first letter to them on June 14th. 2014 with my request to cancel and they didn't and my bill went higher yet, what gives, can you help me and others, thanks. Thank you for rebroadcasting Democracy Now! at 11:00 pm. on ch. 12.1. But you no longer seem to rebroadcast Bill Moyers. Please consider SEVERAL rebroadcasts. Play Bill Moyers again on Fridays, say at midnight, 1 or 2:00 am that night (technically, 1 or 2:00 a.m. Saturdays). Or you could replay Moyers earlier on Fridays; say at 11:00 p.m. But equally important is to replay Moyers at least twice during the week that follows the 9:00 p.m. Friday broadcast. Please replay Moyers any weekday evening or night, at least twice. I suggest a monthly email to your email subscribers. This email would concern public affairs programming only. You could list shows such as Democracy Now! and Bill Moyers, and next to each title, you could list the days and times you play and replay the show. Example: Democracy Now! - weekdays, Mon.-Fri. 5:30, 11:00 pm, and 1:00 am Bill Moyers - Fridays, 9:00 p.m. and midnight (or 1:00 or 2:00 am); Sundays, 1:00 am; Mondays, midnight; Tuesdays, 10:00 pm. POV - rebroadcast whenever Independent Lens - same Thanks for considering rebroadcasts of your better shows.

Hello, I am the Director of Public Relations for Colorado Fashion Week (CFW) and we have an event coming up that would make for a great segment on your station. On July 31, CFW will host a merchant sale and runway event that will serve as a fundraiser for our larger week-long events in the fall. The city of Denver has gotten behind our mission by officially proclaiming October 1st - 7th of each year, Colorado Fashion Week. Our fundraiser is the most important fashion event of the summer and we look forward to your attendance and support. In teaming with the city, we hope to create an economically sustainable fashion industry in Denver. This objective appeals to artists, designers, models, retailers, and many more of Colorado's talented citizens to build their careers in our great state. If attention is not paid to the fashion industry, we will continue to lose creatives to more recognized cities like Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City. Please email us to receive a press release and informational documents. Feel free to request additional information. Our team is available for interviews. I can also personally come to the station to speak about our projects. We thank you for coming together with us to make Colorado an even more versatile state. Out Of Order Claymation Clip
Posted: July 15, 2014 by Name Withheld
At about 9:30-10ish this evening (July 15th), I began watching Out Of Order midway through the episode. The segment playing was a abstract claymation video that appeared to be from the early 1960s. The music accompanimieing the footage was a fast paced, upbeat instrumental track. I know that I have seen the film before, but couldnt remember what it was called or who it was by. I would like to know what it was. It was followed by a segment about zombies. If you could please get back to me about what claymation video was used, I would greatly appreciate it.

weather alert interruption
Posted: July 15, 2014 by Name Withheld
Program: Masterpiece (9 comments)
WHY can you not just scroll weather alerts silently and keep programming audio unmolested?! The past two Monday evenings Masterpiece Mystery was savaged by your public service weather audio interruptions.
CPT12 Response:
Yes, it can be frustrating to have your favorite program interrupted however, imagine if you are visually impaired and there is a tornado heading your way!
We are required by the FCC to provide emergency information.  Here is an excerpt with a link to the FCC following the excerpt:
How Does Emergency Information Need to Be Made Accessible?
In the case of persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, emergency information that is provided in the audio portion of programming must be provided either using closed captioning or other methods of visual presentation, such as open captioning, crawls or scrolls that appear on the screen. Video programming distributors must ensure that emergency information does not block any closed captioning, and closed captioning should not block any emergency information provided by means other than closed captioning. Closed captions are visual text displays that are hidden in the video signal. You can access closed captions through your remote control or on-screen menu or through a special decoder. Open captions are an integral part of the television picture, like subtitles in a movie. In other words, open captions cannot be turned off. Text that advances very slowly across the bottom of the screen is referred to as a crawl; displayed text or graphics that move up and down the screen are said to scroll.
In the case of persons who are blind or visually impaired, emergency information that is provided in the video portion of a regularly scheduled newscast or a newscast that interrupts regular programming must be made accessible. This requires the aural description of emergency information in the main audio. If the emergency information is being provided visually during programming that is not a regularly scheduled newscast or a newscast that interrupts regular programming (e.g., the programmer provides the emergency information through “crawling” or “scrolling” during regular programming), this information must be accompanied by an aural tone. Beginning May 26, 2015, this information must be made accessible to individuals who are blind or visually impaired through the use of a secondary audio stream to provide the emergency information aurally. The aural tone will continue to alert persons with vision disabilities that the broadcaster is providing emergency information, and, as of May 26, 2015, will alert them to tune to the secondary audio stream, such as a radio, for more information.

MS appliance for hip
Posted: July 14, 2014 by David Ramsey
My wife has MS and saw something on channel 12 about an appliance that helped MS people walk - she says it fastened at the waist and down the leg. Unfortunately, that is all she remembers, and she did not get the phone number which was on the screen. Does any of this ring a bell with you? She would really like to learn more, and if she could recall the name for the appliance or the company that was demonstrating it, she could provide that information to her doctor. Program: Colorado Inside Out (9 comments)
Last week on Colorado Inside Out a member on the panel, David Kopel, presented a deceptive understanding about what has happened in Gaza and the Palestinian land. I don't even believe the beginning of the violence was explained. It began when 3 teenage Jewish boys were reported missing, with no ideas of what happened, the Israel gov. began a number of ways to implement collective punishment on Palestinians for their disappearance, including arresting 100's of the persecuted group of people or Palestinians as suspects. Then a Palestinian was burned to death and another beat when these young men where not doing anything wrong. When you look at a map of what began as Palestine and what it is today, it appears that the current government of Israel is clearing the land of Palestinians and their right to own anything in Israel; it is not so different than what happened in South Africa when they had an apartheid system. The US was calling many of the Africans of that country terrorists, including Nelson Mandela. I don't know if they were providing multimillions of dollars of weapons of mass destruction weapons to the Apartheid European-African controlled government at that time as the US is currently is doing for Israel today. I hope somehow the Colorado Inside Out program can correct the deception they have presented and encourage viewers to go to another excellent news program shown right there on KBDI channel 12, which is Democracy Now, http://www.democracynow.org/2014/7/14/israel_targets_civilians_the_casualties_speak On another subject it would be appreciated if the people on the programs on KBDI covered the other political parties besides just the Republican and Democrat parties. The Green party was extremely appreciative when you allowed their candidate, the Libertarian and the Constitutional candidates a chance to be aired as they answered some questions on important issues. It would also be informative to the public if they could be on the air with the Republican and Democrat candidates or to tell the public why these two many times agreeing candidates refuse to appear with them. This year the Green Party has several candidates including a candidate for governor, Harry Hempy. I thought it would be nice if the Colorado Inside Out panel could have interviewed ALL of the candidates who are running for governor to see what their views are on capital punishment, on Obama's visit, as well as how they feel about supporting Senator Udall. I as a Green Party member thought Senator. Udall deceived the public by speaking against the NDAA bill for an hour on the senate floor and then promptly signing the bill. Thank you for providing this space for my comment.

Program: Running of the Bulls (1 comment)
Please don't contribute to or glamorize Spain's cruel pathetic practice of running these beautiful animals to what is certainly a slow and cruel death! Public television should have more class!! So those of us who know the horror of bullfighting that children watch and cheer that the bullfighter will be victorious hope for the opposite result we continue working to end a practice that is bloody and violent and frankly I question the moral compass of all of you who think bullfighting should continue.
CPT12 Response:
Thank you for your feedback.
I respect your concern about the cruelty of bullfighting. But after viewing this extraordinary documentary, I got to say, the Bulls came out looking pretty good.  I was more concerned about the sanity of the runners.
This Saturday July 12th is the 4th Annual Highlands Running of the Bulls. This is a run I think we all can get behind.
A benefit for Tennyson Center for Children in Northwest Denver, runners attempt to outrun members of the Rocky Mountain RollerGirls team wielding whiffle ball bats.
It will be a day of celebration for those who are able to escape the onslaught of the Rocky Mountain RollerGirls, and will raise money for Tennyson Center for Children, who's aim is to "work with children, youth, and their families to overcome a variety of life crises, including abuse and neglect."

He was speaking from the Carnegie Council. I checked the CarnegieCouncil.org website, and couldn't find this information. When I also checked on the CPT12 program schedule, it only said: http://www.cpt12.org/tv_schedule/program_details.cfm?id=320140706080000 Global Ethics Forum Sunday, July 6 at 8:00 am on Channel 12.3 How do global leaders make decisions? What moral codes guide them - and how do those codes evolve? Global Ethics Forum is a weekly television show produced by the CarnegieEthics Studio, a division of the Carnegie Council for Ethics inInternational Affairs. Each week, different experts navigate the murky moral landscapes presented by global politics, development, and international business. New episodes often confront challenges relevant to current events, while episodes in the Carnegie Classics series address longer-term ethical topics. This is very important to me. Tuesday nights,--internationl mysteries

Program: International Mystery (2 comments)
Hi, On Tuesday evenings what has been running from RAI is quite dismal. Bless their hearts, on Mondays we can endure Don Matteo, but the idiocy on Tuesday is too much. We can understand some relief from the heaviness of the Scandinavian dramas, but this stuff on Tuesdays is just too simple-minded and and an insult to your audience. We now automatically switch it off, preferably for other programs on the "Beady-Eye" (KBDI) of course. Can you pass this on to Mhz or give us a contact? I'm sure they would like to know. While I'm on a rant, can Tavis Smiley be informed that his plugs for Walmart are disgusting as well? Just to get rid of them we switch over to NewScan Cooking and many times forget to return. He loses audience and it tarnishes his image as well to have Walmart run all over his program the way they do. Thanks, John and Dianne

What happened to Masterpiece Mystery???
Posted: June 30, 2014 by Name Withheld
According to all of today's TV schedule listings I've seen in print and online, including your very own website, Masterpiece Mystery was supposed to air at 7PM tonight (Monday June 30). Tonight's Masterpiece Mystery airing was advertised in pro-mo's on Channel 12 for days leading up to tonight. But there is NO Masterpiece Mystery. I would think there would be some kind of announcement about Masterpiece Mystery not airing on your web site or some message scrolling across the TV screen, but I am seeing nothing. I can't imagine I'm the only person in metro Denver wondering what the hell is going on with Channel 12 tonight???

CPT12 Response:
We are glad you enjoyed the program.  The title of the program is  Arctic Son.  Here is a bit of info about the program:

In the spring of 1992 author Jeanie Aspen, daughter of Alaskan adventurers Constance and Bud Helmericks, set out with her husband, Tom, their 6-year-old son, Luke, and friend Laurie for fourteen months ... [See more]alone in Alaska's remote Brooks Range. Flown into the wilderness, the four strive to gain a foothold before winter reclaims the land, a hundred miles from the nearest people. The following summer they face a perilous 600-mile downriver canoe journey back to the world they left behind. As professional artists, Tom and Jeanie readily incorporate the camera into family life, candidly recording their struggles and triumphs against the awesome beauty of the America's last great wilderness. Each member of the small family shares honestly the challenges of this new life. Luke's entries are charming and poignant as we watch him mature under the tutelage of arctic wilderness. Extraordinary historic footage of Jeanie herself as a child in the Brooks Range adds depth to this story of pioneer spirit and evolving relationships.

Five part Civil War series - Civil War: The Untold Story

Program: Civil War: The Untold Story (1 comment)
Hello: I've learned that there is a new PBS documentary about the Civil War. It is mainly about the "western campaign", and features episodes about the battles of Shiloh, Vicksburg, Chickamauga/Chattanooga, and Atlanta. It's already being shown on some PBS stations around the country. Are you aware of the series? If so, do you plan to show it? When? If not, why not? Thanks.
CPT12 Response:
Thank you for your email.
Colorado Public Television aired the full series  The Civil War: The Untold Story, earlier this year.  Our broadcast rights for the program have expired, so we can no longer air the series this time around.
I was unable to find a free site that you could stream the programs, but they are available through Amazon. You may also be able to check them out through your local library.

Film Premiere
Posted: June 19, 2014 by Adam Hartle
Hello, My name is Adam Hartle and I'm a comedian/filmmaker and I wanted to let you know about our film "Mile High- The Comeback of Cannabis" which is premiering at The Mayan theater on July 8th, 2014. (trailer and press kit can be viewed here: www.MileHighFilm.com). It's a comedy documentary on Amendment 64 beginning with the historic vote and ending with the landmark opening of the nations' 1st recreational shops in Colorado as we were the only film crew to capture these historic moments live. We chose Denver for the premiere over NY or LA because it was filmed in Colorado and we feel like the 1,291,771 Coloradans who voted "yes" on 64 deserve the opportunity to see it first. Plus I can't wait to get back out there! It's also playing July 9th and 10th at the Mayan and July 9th at The Boulder theater. After Colorado, we're taking the film to indie theaters nationwide. Any exposure would be greatly appreciated. Director Anthony Hashem and myself are available for interviews July 6-8. Thank you! Adam Hartle (904) 514-3134
Wireless Radiation and Health Concerns
Posted: June 16, 2014 by Virginia Farver
Dear Producers, or Shari Bernson; I'm contacting you concerning a showing of 'Take Back Your Power ' www.takebackyourpower.net. I spoke with Shari a few months ago and she was in contact with Josh Del Sol the producer of the movie. The movie needed to be shortened and I believe that this has been accomplished. This is a subject that needs to be shown to the public. Especially now that the city of Denver is going to have Comcast deploy 'Hot Spots' throughout the city. There is now sufficient evidence that non-ionizing radiation Classification by the WHO ( World Health Organization ) should be changed from a Class 2B Carcinogen to a Class 2A Carcinogen. Non-ionizing radiation ( Wireless ) which includes cell phones, cell towers, Wi-Fi, smart meters, power-lines, etc., are currently a class 2B. 2B carcinogens include DDT, LEAD, CHLOROFORM and ASBESTOS! Car manufacturers are also in the process of developing cars with Wi-Fi systems that surround your car to prevent collisions. Electric Car batteries are dangerous and create RF fields that are dangerous to be located near. Many people are suffering from EHS - Electro Hypersensitivity Symptoms. Headaches, nausea, ringing in the ears, memory or concentration problems to name a few. Many of these people are being put on depression medication instead of disconnecting. Author Katie Singer just released a book with my Son's Story: The Electronic Silent Spring - www.theelectronicsilentspring.com. This book covers laws, the dangers of smart meters and there effects, Dirty Electricity among other issues. I would like to know if Channel 12 is going to air - Take Back Your Power? I have investigated 3 different Cancer Clusters. The one on the SDSU campus in San Diego involves several people who have died from GBM Brain Cancer, one of these included my Son. There is a HPWREN ( High Performance Wireless Research & Educational Network ) cell tower on campus located near a building where most of these victims were located. The other 2 cancer clusters involved people on the UCSD San Diego campus that succumbed to Breast Cancers. This involved a room in the Literature Building on campus which was located next to an elevator and electrical equipment. 15 people, 8 women with breast cancers within a few years. Again high EMF's were found. The head of this investigation was Dr. Leeka Kheifets who works and does research through the ' Electrical Power Research Institute.' All 3 schools had epidemiological reports which are mere statistics. What all 3 schools needed were true TOXICOLOGY Studies done. The Kelly Elementary Cancer Cluster in Carlsbad involved several kids with leukemia's and brain tumors. In this investigation another epidemiological report with the same Dr.'s who wrote the report for SDSU. There are huge high tension electrical power-lines that cross this school property and surrounding neighborhoods along with a power station near-by. Upon further investigations there were 59 cell towers and 219 antennas located within a 4 mile radius of this school. WAKE UP AMERICA! Wireless is DANGEROUS and we are all at saturation points! There will be no escape from deadly cumulative toxin!! GET RID OF CELL PHONES, CELL TOWERS, WI-FI and DON'T LIVE NEAR POWER STATIONS OR POWER-LINES! Sincerely, Virginia Farver vrfarv@hotmail.com

GAA coverage.

Dear CPT: Will you be airing any coverage this summer of the GAA (Gaelic football and hurling) this summer? In the past, I have watched this on your international channel via Directv, usually a Saturday game that was replayed on Sunday, about a two-three week delay of the live game. Thanks, Jim

Our international programming seen on Channel 12.3 (Comcast 252) comes direct from MHz Networks and right now it doesn’t appear that GAA football or hurling is in their line-up.  For the latest international programming be sure to check our website from time-to-time.  Here is the link:  http://www.cpt12.org/tv_schedule/programs_a-z.cfm#%26channel_selector%3D3%26letter%3D

Thx for airing a component of democracy with the help of Eric Sondermann and Shaun Boyd, who without their professionalism would have been jaw dropping as I was in response to (R) candidates vying to rep the 4th dist (the delta quadrant).. A litmus party, each seemed to be looking over their shoulder least a conservative air horn would sound if answer was out of lockstep, which is the tea party blockade of the U S House of Representatives, dance profile of gridlocked govt., however out of step with Colo voters. To wit, legal weed “bad idea” no banking relief for dopers.2nd, Citizens United (open flood gate of money, merely a “free speech”, 1st amend issue, (can you dog whistle that tune?) As a political junkie, & avowed liberal I admit I didn’t have a dog in that fight. However, It was enlightening to see the lack of compromise, the mothers milk of political governing, confirming some recent polling that conservatives prefer to locate in rural sprawl( Weld Co. sessionistas) , whilst liberals prefer denser housing ( RTD?) More opine lately the country is approaching historic divides. Ken Buck (whom I voted against in his Senate race) seemed to grasp the fallacy of “out there” positions in trying to woo centrist voters and bettered his opponents with that resolve. Too bad some of that up coming TV ad money can’t flow to CPT 12, which is doing the real work of showcasing candidates(credit the idea to Patricia Calhoun,Westword, on Colorado inside out) thx , DaninDen

Wow. Way to break the stereotype. Dad at home cooking is a great idea for the (more) modern family. Gender roles are not what they were. Native bird declines are just the tip of the cat-licker's iceberg.
Posted: June 9, 2014 by Name Withheld
Program: Ten Lives: A Feral Cat Odyssey (4 comments)
Birds are just a minor subset of all the thousands of native animal species (billions of individual animals) that cat-lickers (criminally irresponsible cat-advocates) are annihilating around the world with their man-made invasive species vermin cats. Not only are these demented invasive-species house-cats-ONLY "animal lovers" now killing off all Big Cats in all wildlife reserves around the world: http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/big-cat-owners-warned-to-keep-them-acres-away-from-feral-strays And for the ultimate example of absurdity and species-conservation irony, now making all moggie-licking residents of the UK the complete laughingstocks of the whole world, they've already made their ONE AND ONLY NATIVE CAT SPECIES EXTINCT in the UK (the inventors of that TNR insanity) with their invasive species "moggies": http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/sep/16/scottish-wildcat-extinction "A report, produced by the Scottish Wildcat Association, reviewed 2,000 records of camera trap recordings, eyewitness reports and road kills, and concluded there may be only about 40 wildcats left in Scotland in the wild today. 'However you juggle the figures, it is hard to find anything positive,' says Steve Piper, the association's chairman. 'The overwhelming evidence is that the wildcat is going to be extinct within months.'" ... "However, it is not the loss of habitat that is causing the current cat crisis in the Cairngorms. It is the spread of the domestic cat." ... "'Essentially the Highland wildcat is being eradicated by an alien invasive species: the domestic cat.'" (report quoted from last year, they are no-doubt extinct by now) As well as killing off all their inland River Otters in England (and elsewhere) with their cats' parasites: http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/otter-toxoplasmosis.html As well as cats' parasites killing off all rare and endangered marine mammals on all coastlines around the world (worse than any oil-spill that has ever existed or could even be imagined): http://news.msn.com/science-technology/deadly-cat-feces-killing-thousands-of-marine-mammals http://www.environmentalhealthnews.org/ehs/news/hawaiian-monk-seals Plus these cat-licking "animal lover" psychopaths and sociopaths are also killing off all the Mountain Lions (Cougars, Puma, Endangered Florida Panther, etc.), and all other native cat species in North America: http://rapidcityjournal.com/sports/local/feral-cats-pose-threat-to-birds-lions/article_8ec451c9-4b03-55a3-baa7-71ac577905cb.html But now these cat-lickers are even killing off rare whales and causing massive birth-defects in the indigenous Inuit people who depend on seal-meat for their very survival. Seals that were infected (and are also dying-off) from these cat-lickers' cats' parasites. Cat parasite found in western Arctic Beluga deemed infectious http://news.ubc.ca/2014/02/13/bigthaw/ Let's thank these psychotic bible-home-schooled cat-lickers for all the fine work they do for being such fantastic "animal lovers", shall we? THEY JUST LOVE CATS SO MUCH! So caring! So thoughtful! SO intelligent! So FULL of love for living things! So much so that they will even sacrifice whole races of humans to death-by-birth-defect to prove how much they love their vermin invasive-species cats. I'd love to thank them all, each with a gift of a solitary-confinement prison-cell -- FOR LIFE. Better yet, for their VAST ecological crimes and sins against all of nature and all of humanity, hanged-until-dead would be a far more fitting "gift" for them AND the whole planet. That used to be the punishment for engaging in bio-warfare against the human population and all other animal life in any country. I say bring it back -- special, just for them.
The TNR Con-Game
Posted: June 9, 2014 by Name Withheld
Program: Ten Lives: A Feral Cat Odyssey (4 comments)
The TNR CON-GAME FACT: Trap & Kill failed because cats cannot be trapped faster than they exponentially breed out of control. FACT: Trap, Neuter, & Re-Abandon (TNR) is an even bigger abject failure because these man-made ecological disasters cannot be trapped faster than they exponentially breed out of control, and they also continue to cruelly annihilate all native wildlife (from the smallest of prey up to the top predators that are starved to death), and the cats continue to spread many deadly diseases that they carry today — FOR WHICH THERE ARE NO VACCINES AGAINST THEM. Many of which are even listed as bioterrorism agents. (Such as Tularemia and The Plague — Yes, people have already died from cat-transmitted plague in the USA. No fleas nor rats even required. The cats themselves carry and transmit the plague all on their own.) FACT: THERE IS ABSOLUTELY _NOTHING_ HUMANE ABOUT TNR. Nearly every last TNR’ed cat dies an inhumane death by road-kill, from cat and animal attacks, environmental poisons, starvation, dehydration, freezing to death, infections, eaten from the inside-out by parasites, etc. And if very very lucky humanely shot to death or re-trapped and drowned (the two most common methods employed on all farms and ranches to protect their gestating livestock’s offspring and valuable native wildlife dying from cats’ Toxoplasmosis parasites). This doesn’t begin to count the thousands of defenseless native animals that cats skin alive and disembowel alive for their daily and hourly play-toys. And pitting cat against cat to fight-to-the-death for territory is ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENT than those who run criminal dog-fight rings to see who wins. They spend YEARS in jail. IT IS A HIGHLY PUNISHABLE CRIME TO FORCE *ANY* DOMESTICATED ANIMALS TO FIGHT EACH OTHER FOR THEIR VERY SURVIVAL. FACT: Hunted To Extinction (or in this case, extirpation of all outdoor cats) is the ONLY method that is faster than a species like cats can exponentially out-breed and out-adapt to. Especially a man-made invasive species like these cats that can breed 2X-4X’s faster than any naturally occurring cat-species. FACT: The only difference in destroying cats immediately and humanely instead of trapping, sterilizing, then releasing them to an inhumane death and forcing them to fight-to-the-death for survival; is that money isn’t going into Becky Robinson's Alley-Cat-All-Lies pocket, or an HSUS or SPCA board-member’s pocket, veterinarian’s pocket, cat-food company CEO’s pocket, or a drug-company CEO’s pocket. And that’s the ONLY difference! Support yet another organization that exploits and perpetuates the suffering of animals for their own personal financial gain, then try to sleep well at night. FACT: These manipulative, deceptive, and deceitful TNR proponents are now clipping cats ears ONLY. WITHOUT vaccinations nor sterilizing them. They do this to save money and protect their outdoor hoarded cat colonies from being trapped and euthanized by the state because the clipped-ear shows officials that they have been sterilized and vaccinated. Why pay $140 for each cat and all that time when just a trap and a simple snip of scissors on each one can also protect their hoarded cats from being destroyed? (I have absolute proof of this.) FACT: Cats are a man-made (through selective breeding) invasive species. And as such, are no less of a man-made environmental disaster than any other caused by man. Cats are even worse than an oil-spill of continent-sized proportions. They not only kill off rare and endangered marine-mammals along all coastlines from run-off carrying cats’ Toxoplasma gondii parasites, they destroy the complete food-chain in every ecosystem where cats are found. From smallest of prey gutted and skinned alive for cats’ tortured play-toys, up to the top predators that are starved to death from cats destroying their ONLY food sources. (Precisely what cats caused on my own lands not long ago.) FACT: In _SIXTEEN_YEARS_ Alley Cat ALL-LIES branch of NYC have only reduced feral cats in their own city by 0.08% to 0.024% (as the months go on that percentage becomes more insignificant), allowing more than 99.92% to 99.976% to exponentially breed out of control. Here’s how Alley-Cat-ALL-LIES’ deceptive math works: If you TNR 4 cats and 3 get flattened by cars this translates to 75% fewer feral-cats everywhere. Alley Cat ALL-LIES of NYC can’t even reduce cats in their own city, yet they promote it as a worldwide solution. Then even bigger fools fall for it and promote it. FACT: When researching over 100 of the most “successful” TNR programs worldwide, JUST ONE trapped more than 0.4%. Oregon’s 50,000 TNR’ed cats (the highest rate I found) is 4.9% of all ferals in their state. Yet, by applying population growth calculus on the unsterilized 95.1% they will have trapped only 0.35% of all cats in their state sometime this year. Less than 0.4% is a far cry from the required 75%-85% to be the least bit effective. FACT: Their mythical “vacuum effect” is a 100% LIE. A study done by the Texas A&M University proved that any perceived “vacuum” is just the simple case that CATS ATTRACT CATS. Get rid of them all and there are no cats there to attract more. I proved this myself by shooting and burying hundreds of them on my own lands. ZERO cats replaced them FOR OVER FOUR YEARS NOW. If you want more cats, keep even one of them around, more will find you. That university study also found that sterilized cats very poorly defend any territory. Non-sterilized cats, being more aggressive, take over the sterilized cats’ resources (shelter & food if any). If there is any kind of “vacuum effect” at all, it is that sterilizing cats cause non-sterilized cats to restore the reproductive void. FACT: During all this investigation I have discovered something that is unfaltering without fail. Something that you can bet your very life on and win every last time. That being — IF A TNR CAT-HOARDER IS TALKING THEN THEY ARE LYING. 100% guaranteed!
CPT12 Response:
Thank you for your  email and links documenting the serious issue of the spread of disease and cross breeding by feline feral populations.  Like the spread of small pox among Native Americans, I can see how the spread of disease could do more damage to native species than physical attacks.
With that said, solitary confinement for life seems a bit harsh.  I recently visited D block at Alcatraz and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
Education and responsible pet ownership seems to be the key.
The American Veterinary Medical Association’s guidelines for Responsible Pet Ownership include:
  • “Preventing pet(s) from negatively impacting other people, animals and the environment, including proper waste disposal, noise control, and not allowing pet(s) to stray or become feral.”
Sounds good to me.

Three years ago I found "Russia Today" to offer an interesting, different perspective on world events. Then two years ago, something happened. Since that time it's been consistently, virulently anti-West "news and opinions" that to me is just strident propaganda. I've stopped watching it. I realize CPT12 offers lots of different perspectives, and I appreciate that. But when free speech turns into hate speech, I have to disconnect from it.

seeds of death- poisonous soy is ruining my life

Program: Seeds of Death: Unveiling the Lies of GMOs (14 comments)
Thanks for this great program! Your are doing us a huge service! In the last couple years I have had to totally avoid soy in order not to end up in the hospital. I believe GMO soy has created this problem. Avoiding soy is almost impossible inasmuch as it is added to so many human foodstuffs: cottage cheese, canned tuna, all bakery items, all frozen meals, to mention a few. I have developed migrainous vertigo which results in my falling to the floor with my vision whirling so rapidly I can only see whiteness while vomiting and having diarrhea and trying not to scream. I cannot tell up from down and cannot help myself. This lasts for hours until medicines administered by an ER eventually help. Of course, I can no longer eat Asian food. I have to spend hours reading labels (tons of tiny print) on food products when grocery shopping which--takes a long time. I mostly have to eat only organic fruits and vegetables and cook my own food. I know that our drinking water in Denver is dangerous since Denver Water lies and manipulates. There are hundreds of oil spills every year. One site in a river (Clear Creek) contained booms to corral and absorb the toxic chemicals. These booms were undoubtedly swept away during the huge floods. I am horribly allergic to benzene, yet the EPA allows a certain amount of benzene in drinking water. And the FDA allows it in medicines. The State of Colorado designates certain water bodies as non-drinking water and does not fine industry for chemical spills into those bodies of water. Parachute Creek for example. I use a distiller for my drinking and cooking water. But showers produce fumes that are toxic too. GMO foods should be labeled. And the manufacture, sale, and use of GMO substances should be banned. As you say, they are terribly dangerous to our health, lives, and the world. Thanks

This program is very timely with the number of stay at home dads in this generation. I loved getting to know Peter's family on the show with fun stories and photos between the food preparation. I need quick, healthy, and delicious meals as a working mom, so I really appreciate this show. Can't wait until the next episode!!

This has the mythology backwards
Posted: June 2, 2014 by Joshua Rose
Program: Ten Lives: A Feral Cat Odyssey (4 comments)
I am horrified that a PBS affiliate would broadcast such blatantly biased propaganda. The harm that feral cats cause to songbirds and other wildlife is not a "negative myth", it has been repeatedly established by peer-reviewed scientific studies, over and over again. To claim otherwise is science denial, pure and simple. What's next? Will your station broadcast programming in support of young-earth creationism? Or perhaps a show proclaiming that vaccines cause autism? Broadcasting anti-scientific nonsense like this erodes the credibility of PBS and undermines all of the great work done by other PBS shows like Nova, Frontline, and all of the kids' educational shows. Please broadcast something scientifically substantiated instead of this fuzzy-brained waste of time.

I have never seen the BBC program on TV, "Why We Lost the Vietnams War".
Posted: May 30, 2014 by Name Withheld
In bopping around on the Internet, I and my wife came across a documentary done by the BBC on "Why We Lost the Vietnam War". It covered the Black Lion Army Unit, getting wiped out, as one part of the story...and for a counterpoint presented the University of Wisconsin at Madison "sit ins" and "teach ins" that turned into a huge confrontation with local law enforcement when the Chancellor of the University unwisely "called the local Madison Police Dept. to come on Campus and move the students away from a sit in within the hallways. It Showed the views of "both sides" of the U. of Wisconsin students and then the governing administration. This BBC TV program showed the deception, the ignorance, the deceipt of "war planners", Field Commanders, General Westmoreland, the Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, The Press, and President Johnson. The vivid hour long picture shows what a huge tragic mistake the Vietnam "gung ho" War was in the history of American foreign policy.

Hit Irish TV comedy now on other PBS stations. Why not channel 12? Thanks for the consideration.
CPT12 Response:
Thanks for your inquiry.  You may not be aware but we are a partial PBS affiliate and therefore we are limited on the number of hours of PBS programs we can broadcast.  That being said we have to make tough decisions on what to broadcast (i.e. Masterpiece, Frontline, American Experience) versus other programs.  The comedy you mentioned sounds great but unfortunately we are max’d out on our program hours.

Thank God the glass boxes are going away. Those buildings gave way to Dilbert cubicles inside and look alike cars. Talk about boring. And, whew! Now there's Frank Geary. with some personality instead of the brain dead Soviet Communist style severity that went the world over. May we never see the likes again. I hate this kind of "architecture"! It makes me want to drive a nail into my eyeball and run for the hills.
CPT12 Response:
Thank you for your email and  personal take on the merits of  Mid Century Modern architecture. It’s like they day, “ Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.”
With that said when it comes to architecture,  I personally  would prefer Louis Sullivan’ Wainwright Building over Mies van der Rohe’s Seagram Building.
To me, Geary is more about sculpture than useable space.

My husband and I found this in the television guide today, and watched it. We were very excited to hear some wonderful ideas about how to get students (Hispanic or not) interested in exploring STEM subjects and careers. If we had know about it earlier, we would have let teachers here in South Park know, so that they could watch it. We did record it, but on a DVR, so can't share it with others. Will the program be repeated? Or is it possible to get a DVD or other form of recording of the program? This should be widely disseminated among educators, all across the country.

I look forward to watching "American Experience-1964." Hopefully, it will set forth the lies and deception that President Lyndon B. Johnson told to both the American public and to Congress which got the U.S. military involved in this tragic and senseless war. This war resulted in the deaths of 58,000 American military along with the deaths of many Vietnamese citizens. In addition, there were thousands more civilian and military casualties. Fracking lies

Program: FrackNation (1 comment)
While it is true fracking has been used in Colorado for years as it has elsewhere in this country, but the important difference is that it was limited to vertical well unclogging not horizontal fracking as is now done. The oil companies are not at all interested in the gas as much as 30% of all natural gas in the new fields in N. Dakota is flared uselessly polluting our air. The oil companies don't care about the gas they want the oil which is very profitable now. So lets try to act like your not bribed by the big oil and gas companies even if you are as is so very plain for all of us long time supporters. You don't need my tax dollars or my support. Go whore your self's to big oil and gas and you'll get it in the end if you know what I mean.

Crop Circles
Posted: May 17, 2014 by Name Withheld
Greetings, Thanks so much for the wonderful service you have provided to the citizens of metro Denver for many years. I must apologize that my initial contact is not more positive; however, I was surprised to see a program on crop circles on Channel 12 this morning, which supports the idea that crop circles are created by extraterrestrials. That theory was debunked many years ago. There are many more simple and believable explanations (including many people who have admitted creating them and demonstrated how they did it). The woman who made the outrageous claims and appeared excited about profiting from these claims clearly did not believe in this ruse - she was part of it. These sorts of outrageous claims - especially as supported by a well-respected station such as your own - may contribute to the increasingly questionable judgment of Americans in general. My hope is that others will call attention to this sort of misalignment with the expectations of educated people and encourage you to report only on topics which stand up to true scientific inspection. Thanks, J

PS -- Strongly object to Don Sullivan's dog training special

Program: Train Your Dog Like a Pro (4 comments)
My previous post was too long, and this stuff wasn't included -- 5 DON SULLIVAN [and the company that sells his stuff, Thane] Complaints and reviews from real people http://www.pissedconsumer.com/company/don-sullivan.html * Anybody tried Don Sullivan's The Perfect Dog system? Saw an infomercial for this dog training video and equipment: .... Have you purchased this? What was your experience with it? Would you recommend? Best Answer -- Asker's Choice Agility Man answered 6 years ago -- This is a great example of someone being very savvy in how they use the internet. Do a quick search of "Don Sullivan" and "Perfect Dog" and you find a gazillion forums with a question and then a couple of responses that are all positive (without explaining the technique). Yet strangely, the responses seem to read the same..."he's a down to earth guy" or "true to the promises in the infomercial" or "saw results within weeks" or "worked better than anything I've ever tried". 1. Don Sullivan claims that treats don't work. Yeah, if you're luring. But decades of operant conditioning research (with humans and species such as dolphins, horses, cats, orcas and certainly dogs) has proven this to be wrong. The problem is you've got a bunch of old time, out-of-touch with new research, people who think that treats are bribes. They aren't. What you're doing is shaping the association that a dog has with a particular event. 2. He doesn't use a marker (for dogs that would be a clicker, for dolphins or orcas, a whistle) Research has shown that this is the simplest, fastest way to train. All serious animal trainers at places like SeaWorld or in Hollywood animal trainers rely on them. 3. His technique is build around a modified plastic prong collar. Yes, it will change behavior but only a very superficial way. For instance, let's suppose your dog gets frantic when strangers approach the door and begins to bark rapidly. You use the Sullivan collar and the barking stops. Problem solved? Not quite. The dog likely transfers the behavior to something. For instance, it would probably become more likely to bite. The point I'm making is that pain and adversive behavior doesn't solve WHY the dog does what it does, it just shifts the behavior. So if your dog is threatened by a neighboring dog and begins barking whenever that dog appears so you "correct" than your dog doesn't suddenly feel that the other dog isn't a threat, it just doesn't bark. Instead, it may look for an opportunity to attack. Or it may feel that you can't be trusted. Or the dog may be more likely to flee. For decades, old school trainers have used choke collars and prong collars to train dogs. Of course they can produce behavior change. But what we've conclusively found is that it doesn't change WHY the dog was behaving that way, the behavior is transferred to something else, it often produces aggressive dogs or aggressive behavior and it doesn't improve bonds with the handler or owner. But other than that, it's effective. I'll give you one last thought: I compete in agility. At the highest levels, absolutely none of the handlers I know of would treat their dogs this way. And some of them run rescues (so it's not that they have some rare unique dog different from the rest of us). Some of those agility folks have dogs that do tricks shows or TV ads for dog products--again, they'd never think of using such behavior. Save your money. It's much like BarkBusters in that it's all promo. Far better to invest in something like Patricia McConnell's books (the Other End of the Leash is a good one) or Leslie McDevitt's "Control Unleashed" (if you've got a reactive dog) or visit Shirley Chong's website. https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080912153353AAtJ4yf * Don Sullivan's Secrets to Training the Perfect Dog (www.theperfectdog.com) Complaints & Reviews - Fraud About 14 comments, including the terms "Rip Off" and "Fraud" http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/don-sullivan039s-secrets-to-training-the-perfect-dog-wwwtheperfectdogcom-c158971.html * Well, thanks for listening.
Strongly object to PGS showing Don Sullivan's dog training special

Program: Train Your Dog Like a Pro (4 comments)
Hi. I like a lot of PBS shows, and when we watch anything, it's usually on PBS. * I strongly object to PBS showing the Don Sullivan Wake Up and Smell the Poop dog training show. I did some checking, and read significant numbers of reviews that dealing with his company is a pain, with underhanded dealings by the company, that the materials are of poor quality and break quickly, that the program and collar don't work, and that the collar will cause pain in the dogs. The collar he recommends and sells has sharp plastic points that when you YANK (and yes, I saw Sullivan YANK on the collars to get several dogs to go down), the points dig into the dog's neck. And no, that's not how dog mothers or other dogs do it -- when they do it, it doesn't hurt. I don't know if you picked this up, but the small tan dog he "trained" and then just stayed up on the deck and didn't go out onto the lawn even with temptations, but that dog was suffering inside. Don Sullivan says he doesn't dominate the dogs, but that after he "trains" them with pulling and yanking on the collar, he shows that he still cares about the animal by showing affection, and that the dogs aren't harmed. I disagree. The Humane Society recommends that people do NOT use collars like he uses and sells. They recommend positive training methods rather than aversive collars Here's some of my research-- Humane Society -- ...Aversive collars Some trainers use aversive collars to train "difficult" dogs with correction or punishment. These collars rely on physical discomfort or even pain to teach the dog what not to do. They suppress the unwanted behavior, but they don't teach him what the proper behavior is. At best, they are unpleasant for your dog, and at worst, they may cause your dog to act aggressively and even bite you. Positive training methods should always be your first choice. Learn the techniques » Choke chain As the name implies, this collar is made of metal links and is designed to control your dog by tightening around your dog's neck. It is supposed to sit high up on the dog's neck just behind her ears. Unlike the martingale collar, there is no way to control how much the choke chain tightens, so it's possible to choke or strangle your dog. It can also cause other problems, too, such as injuries to the trachea and esophagus, injuries to blood vessels in the eyes, neck sprains, nerve damage, fainting, transient paralysis, and even death. It is best for your dog if you avoid using a choke chain. More humane collars and good obedience training should make it unnecessary to resort to this aversive collar. If you insist on using one, consult an experienced trainer to learn how to properly size, fit, and use it. And never leave a choke chain on your dog as her regular collar; the chain could catch on something and choke your dog! Prong or pinch The prong or pinch collar is similar in style to the martingale. The control loop that the leash is attached to is made of chain. The loop that fits around your dog's neck is made of a series of fang-shaped metal links, or prongs, with blunted points. When the control loop is pulled, the prongs pinch the loose skin of your dog's neck. Like the choke chain, the prong collar must be properly fitted. The size of the prong links should be appropriate for the size of your dog. The collar should sit high up on your dog's neck, just behind his ears. The fit should be snug, so the prong links can't shift to the front of your dog's neck where they might pinch your dog's trachea. More humane collars and good obedience training should make it unnecessary to resort to this aversive collar. If you insist on using one, consult an experienced trainer to learn how to properly size, fit, and use it.... http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/dogs/tips/collars.html * Here are some of the bad reviews -- Don Sullivan Perfect Dog Fast Results Pet Training Package, Large -- Go to PetCo to get dog training, February 20, 2014 This review is from: Don Sullivan Perfect Dog Fast Results Pet Training Package, Large (Misc.) You can go register for personal training of your dog at PetCo for the price of this package. The collar is especially troublesome because when you take your dog for a walk, if he pulls the least bit the collar will tighten around his/her neck and choke them to the point of causing them to dry heave/throw up. The nylon rope will only last for a couple of weeks before your pet chews thru it. I'd return it if I could. I don't recommend it. Get a dog collar that is comfortable for your dog, not one that will kill them. NOT FOR ME OR MY DOG!, January 2, 2014 This review is from: Don Sullivan Perfect Dog Fast Results Pet Training Package, Small (Misc.) I was enthusiastic when I ordered this product after seeing it on TV. First of all, I should have know with all of the double meaning comments that something was up. All I needed to do was to read the vague booklet and more importantly look at the inside of the collar (which is all zig zagged plastic points reminding me of medieval times) that is intended to inflict pain on the animal. Unbelievable. If you have a hopeless dog that is ready for the pound, etc. it probably would be your last resort. If instead you have a loveable dog (like mine) that has a couple of annoying problems (separation anxiety and getting excited and happy when people arrive at the house) this type of obedience training is just plain old cruelty. Not for me or my dog. Thane customer service totally s*cks!, January 29, 2014 By This review is from: Don Sullivan Perfect Dog Fast Results Pet Training Package, Large (Misc.) Nice I love the collar and training guide. When I first ordered this through the company it was nothing less than disappointment. Took over a moth to get and when it came it came without the video and collar. I had to pay return shipping and fill out a form that it wasn't on the package. Plus I ordered the training cards and they sent two but order said one. Totally messed up my order and expected me to pay for returned shipping. Would never advice anyone to use that company. Ordered from Amazon and got my total order in two days with cheap shipping. Always use Amazon! He is an excellent dog trainer but this book is basically an autobiography. 1.0 out of 5 stars waste of money, March 24, 2014 This review is from: Wake Up and Smell the Poop!: The myths, deceptions, lies and obsessions that keep you from having the Perfect Dog (Paperback) tall tales, long-winded. This has nothing to do with his training program, which is pretty good. The less said the better (the review required 4 more words, hence these 4) * 3-star review-- Yes and no, October 20, 2013 This review is from: Don Sullivan Perfect Dog Max Results Pet Training Package, Large (Misc.) First let me explain the things I like about this product. The set is very well organized and provides just about everything you need to provide basic training according to Don Sullivan's method, with the possible exception of a muzzle. It includes 3 lengths of training lines as well as leather gloves, which are pretty much essential if you let your dog drag the lines on the ground like Sullivan indicates. You also get a condensed set of instructions on a ring that you can take into the field with you, plus a set of 2 training DVDs. The DVDs have menus and sub-menus so you can go directly to the segment that you want to watch. The DVDs provide ample demonstration and explanation for each training activity to help you do the training exercises as Sullivan indicates. You also get Sullivan's own design training collar. There are also things I wasn't too thrilled about with this set, though. I didn't realize this when I selected the product, but the "training" collar is basically a spiky plastic collar (spikes on the inside, against the dog's neck) which is a modified version of a prong collar that sticks prongs in the dog's neck for correction purposes. The collar easily comes apart for adding or taking out links, and the video shows you exactly how to do this, so you can get a pretty precise fit on it, and it could conceivably be used again for a different sized dog. I'm not convinced that this type of collar is necessary, though, since I've seen some very well trained dogs that were never handled this way. While I do agree that a lot of the usual training tools people are sold are kind of useless, and I even agree that the treat-based training system I was taught to use has its down sides, in order to get Sullivan's results with this set you have to be willing to use it the same way he does, and that means correcting your dog frequently with short jerks on the lead, which will cause a bit of discomfort. This is certainly not going to injure your dog, and Sullivan emphasizes that during training you want to build your close relationship with your dog. It just makes me uncomfortable because I'm not convinced it's necessary to inflict pain or discomfort to en

Dear Andrew,

Thanks for your e-mail. We would certainly love to let our viewers know who Charlie Rose’s guests are however, we just don’t get the information from Charlie. Here is a screenshot directly from Charlie Rose’s website yesterday afternoon and the guest information for May 14th is blank.

Even the link on his site that is supposed to be a list of all programs doesn’t have any information for 2014. There are some videos on his site but they seem to be after-the-fact.

There is a place where you can sign-up for e-mails but I don’t know if that would give you more information or not. Here is the link - http://www.patronmail.com/pmailweb/PatronSetup?oid=1057.

Hope this explains things. Sorry we can’t be of more help.

Concerning Create TV
Posted: May 11, 2014 by Esther Whalen
I used to get Create TV here in Colorado Springs. But now it has disappeared. I do not have cable TV of any kind. I have CenturyLink through their modem and router. I seem to get KBDI of some sort. I have only rabbit ears but they don't seem to hold a signal very well, so I am very limited on stations I get. I guess I need another kind of unit, but I don't know what to get. I live on the third floor of a 3-story apartment building, no balcony. I REALLY want Create TV. When I could receive it, it was all I watched because regular TV has the most disgusting trash on it. Not worth my time, and especially not worth my money. Thank you for any help or suggestions you can give. Esther Whalen

for the replacement of jobs in the communities? Most of those now depending on fracking were severely affected by the joke of the oil shale boom and lost everything. In this economy, where do they work? My husband is 4 years from retirement in the field, his family also receive modest royalties which count as the bulk of his elder siblings' incomes. What about the loss of revenue to the state? What do you propose to replace it with in the immediate time to fill these losses? I have a son who has worked with renewables that are shipped to other countries, so much could be done with them here. So how do we break the chokehold of Big Oil? There is so little offere to people whose very lives right through to death depend upon good paying jobs and bennies that many fracking companies offer. My husband has always had great healthcare, 401k that survived fairly well, and now an actual retirement fund as well. His company puts $1,000 annually into our HSA to help cover out of pocket medical. When he was hurt on the job, his company paid a top surgeon of his choice to perform surgery, then paid him full pay throughout a three month recovery, along with all therapy and expenses. Many others would have legally fired him at once. Where in this country could we replace all of THAT?

If public funds pay for political discussion it should be all inclusive
Posted: May 2, 2014 by Susan Hall
I just finished watching CPT12's extremely short discussion about the candidates that will be running for Colorado Governor from the Republican and Democratic party. It seems to me if you truly wanted to provide a service for all the people in Colorado you would include third parties like the Green Party too. The numbers of people who are voting for those 3rd parties are important. In the last election there were around 30,000 votes for the Green Party candidates. Also Green Party candidate for Governor, Harry Hempy has some very important ideas for progressive change that would benefit the Colorado citizens and their voting system. It would be worth allowing the public to hear these ideas. We have also seen how appreciated the independent Senator Bernie Sanders has been to Vermont and I believe many of the Green candidates are in line with the ideals Senator Sanders is pushing forward and the number of independents in the state are very high. Hemp oil coverage

"Instead of continuing the sensationalistic and negative coverage of the state's marijuana laws, why not educate the public (and the obviously ignorant segment of the populaion) on the proper and safe way to boil down marijuana to hemp oil (the so-called hash oil that's been on your broadcasts so much). Rick Simpson has been doing it safely for years in Canada while helping cancer victims (and survivors thanks to his efforts). It wasn't just the get-highs that voted this in, you know." Surely there is a way of educating the public on the safe use of cannabis without promoting it's use, wouldn't you think?

Program: Train Your Dog Like a Pro (4 comments)
I worked with Don for several weeks and saw him transform dogs with extremely bad behavior in a very short amount of time. He was gentle and kind, some dogs with stronger wills needed more correction than other dogs but for the most part the training lasted 15 minutes and the dogs bad habits were gone. Some of these dogs were so difficult that their owners were considering giving the dog up, afterwards they couldn't believe the difference!! The collar is not a typical metal prong collar, which I also do not care for but more of a hard plastic pyramid shape. I have used it one several dogs I have rescued over the years who have had no training and came from awful circumstances. All my dogs hike off leash, come when called, sit, stay and are able to go everywhere with me. I am sure the "Trainers" who are up in arms about his training methods are also against remote collars as well and anyone with hunting dogs uses them. I have worked with trainers who treat train and use all different sorts of methods but this is most effective training and is perfect for the person who has tried everything and nothing has worked. My dog is famous in my town because he is so incredibly well behaved, everyone knows him by name, he is the perfect dog!!

Program: This Old House (1 comment)
I love to watch This Old House, Ask This Old House and Hometime. You had these on beginning at noon on Sunday's. This does not work in my schedule the best, but is more available than 2:00 pm on Mondays and 1:00 am on Tuesday morning. You continually seem to show what I call "the contributor shows" and I refuse to watch these. I am done with CPT12. I will watch This Old House from their website and forget about CPT12. Good bye.
CPT12 Response:
Thank you for your email. I am sorry we are losing your support.
“The Contributor Shows” help us raise funds to be able to purchase the broadcast rights for the shows you  enjoy.
This allows CPT12  to make these programs available to our viewers  who do not have access to the internet or prefer to avoid the myriad of ads on the website.
Sincerely,
Joan

KBDI WV captions
Posted: April 12, 2014 by Name Withheld
I've noticed the captions on the worldview channel are very interesting. The captions don't match the newscasters, and it almost looks like the captions have been taken over by a caption hacker. I don't mind, I mainly look at the video, and because I'm mostly deaf, I don't hear much anyway. That's why I use captions, but on KBDI WV, they are not accurate. They are very political and if I might add, insightful.

Program: Front And Center (1 comment)
hi i am seeing through some friends that season 3 of front and center features the avett bothers but i see no mention of them as you seem to be airing season 2 right now any info on season 3 episode with the avett brothers thank you for a reply denise
CPT12 Response:
Season 3 of Front and Center began feeding from satellite once a week beginning  4/3/14 .  Sometimes we may wait until we have most of the series in-house before air a series for continuity’s sake.  Since the series isn’t in the current or 30 days out schedule (we typically do our schedules at least 30 days out) Season 3 will likely air in June.  You may want to check our website’s schedule tab about mid-May – www.cpt12.org.

Tavis smiley direct contact and CPT 12 direct contact
Posted: April 8, 2014 by john roehling
Hi contacts, Hello, how do you do this? I checked the Tavis Smiley website for one part of the contacts and was disgustingly surprised at how self-promotional and opaque it was. No real contact links anywhere, let alone a phone number. At least CPT12 has something that takes an email. Nothing obvious or even hidden at Tavis Smiley. Got a phone number for them? I'll inquire about the contact link myself. You don't want to hear it, but I started this at about 6:15 Tuesday night. I think you catch the drift. Thanks, John

timing of warning .
Posted: April 7, 2014 by Bobby Ann Powell
I watch pbs 12 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for painting instruction. At about 4 minutes in the nation weather warning system goes off and I cannot hear the painters instructions. Why you do this so often when it not required I do not understand, but since you do could you move the time to the end of Sesame Street please. Please, Please, Please. The info missed can be important for learning info. Thank you Bobby Powell
CPT12 Response:
Due to the size of our staff and the fact that we are not manned 24 hours a day, the EAS signal is automatic.  In other words, the signal goes to air at the time it comes in.  Perhaps in the future we can deal with it in a more viewer-friendly way.

Song stuck in my head
Posted: April 6, 2014 by Name Withheld
On april 3rd a song came on at the end of ireland today. All I remember is a fierce recorder. Well at the end of this 3 minute song the word Ireland came up in green. Can someone there tell me the name of that song, or can I make a request that you play that song more often? MHz worldview also has a song for moroco that I like, but this email is about an irish song. Please help if you can.
CPT12 Response:
I am unable to find the program you request: “Ireland Today”.  However, I assume that it was RTÉ Six One News you saw at 4 pm on April 3rd.  I tried to discover what the music was, but couldn’t find it searching the website.  My suggestion is to go to the web link below and request the information.

Brighton Drilling moratorium
Posted: April 4, 2014 by Dick Hodge
Program: Colorado Inside Out (9 comments)
A fine point I guess, but Brighton did not impose a fracking ban. I know it's fun to say frack on TV, but surely all you usually bright folk know better. Maybe not so smart a move, but not a fracking ban.
CPT12 Response:
Thank you very much for your note.  We always appreciate hearing from our viewers, especially when we are in error.

You are absolutely right that we should not have characterized what Brighton did last week as lifting a fracking ban.  It was indeed a drilling moratorium, and not a fracking ban, that was lifted.

The error was my fault as I was the one who wrote the topic and didn’t dig down enough into the story, ironically, to see exactly what happened.

I appreciate the fact that you let us know when we were wrong and it will help us double down our efforts to present the facts when we discuss these issues on Colorado Inside Out.

Thank you for watching and supporting Colorado Public Television.

Posted: April 3, 2014 by benita Moyes
My dear reader, you have to read this. Dr Malaika doesn’t ask for testimonies and he doesn’t charge. He is genuine and people get to meet him by luck. But right now am your luck if you could meet him. Every other testimonies you read here are scams...... Dr Malaika lives in Nigeria and I happened to meet him by chance after a friend told me about him. I followed these internet testimonies and was hugely scammed to the extent that I wanted to kill myself. Dr Malaika turned my situation around by bringing back my ex and made me regain double of what I lost over to these scams. He made my ex come crawling to have him back. All I spent was $250 and at last gained back all my lost money and even double of it. His email address is odogwumalaika@gmail.com but please don’t make him know that I published him on net. He is just wonderful and I wish whoever that finds him good luck. Don’t forget his email address is odogwumalaika@gmail.com Yours truly Benita Moyes
News ? First Ukraine - NOT !
Posted: April 3, 2014 by David Cerullo
Hello, I hope all is well at Channel 12. Hey I watch you more than anyone - MHZ news from all over the world in particular. Miss Al Jazeera ;-( I am not an expert, but ... I have spent a year in Ukraine in 9 trips since 2006. Been to Crime 4 times - Yalta; Sevastopol twice. Crimea is much more Russian than the rest of Ukraine. They have had military there for hundreds of years and, just like around US bases, a lot of retired military. All ethnic Russians. In the end, it is better for THE PEOPLE of Crimea to be in Russia - especially with the US and NATO backed neo-fascists having violently overthrown the elected govt in Kyiv. Riots, bank robberies, kidnappings, violence ... not in Crimea !!! I am appalled by the content of the First Ukraine broadcasts. I have seen 3. You cannot call this anything but propaganda. 3 of 6 stories in one show were all about Russian troops preparing to invade Ukraine ... or Moldova ... or Poland. The Russians are coming !!! OMG !!! The Russian soldiers are in Russia - unlike US soldiers that are in dozens of countries around the world - many of which (like Okinawa) have been trying to get rid of the US for years. The Crimeans like the Black Sea Fleet and the Russian military in Crimea. Please DO NOT support the propaganda that the peaceful referendum is illegal but the violent overthrow of the govt in Kyiv is legal. David

I have seen part 1 and have been looking for part 2 to air. Will CPT 12 be airing part 2?
CPT12 Response:
Part 2 of this excellent program is scheduled to air on Tuesday, May 13th at 9:00pm on Channel 12.1.  You may want to check our website beforehand to make sure there haven’t been any schedule changes.  Did you know that you can set up e-mail reminders for programs on our website?  It is a really handy feature but of course the program needs to be on the schedule – usually there is about 1 month of visibility.
