Dear cpt I would like to know whether programs are new or old. Is this information on the web site or on the program itself? I have cable but not digital, so on-screen info is hard to retrieve or nonexistent. This goes for Moyers, Frontline, cooking shows, etc. Also, can you direct me to a schedule for the Charlie Rose series II on brain science? This is one of THE best shows, but I miss half of them! What will be shown for the first time and when shows will be rebroadcast. Thank you. HR

I think it's time to ask Dave Kopel to leave. He's becoming uglier and more strident with each passing week. Recently everything he says aims to push his harshly ultra-conservative political agenda. It looks like even the other panelists are getting tired of him. If you want someone from the right, there are any number of bright, articulate people who are not so grating. Hi, I have had type 2 Diabetes for almost 20yrs. I just seen you show on netflix. I wanted to know is this for real? I am on two different shots everyday and I also take a pill two times a day. I have also gained 50 lbs in three months. I try everyday to lose the weight, and it is not easy at all. The amount of your tapes, and CD's are to much for me right now. I just want to know if it is real, and worth the money.

Dave Kopel is a, to use a word he so often uses, disgrace to the Colorado Inside Out panel. He uses every opportunity to insert a derogatory remark about the President no matter what the topic/question is. Tonight he said "Obama's father was a bigamist" when the discussion was about the local legislature's actions on the civil unions act. Isn't this show about Colorado issues? Please replace him with a reasonable voice from whom I could actually learn something.

I actually got to taste sour salt recently. It is sold in Mexican grocery stores, it's lemon and salt so you could easily create it at home with a dash of lemon juice and salt to taste, or lemon zest.

I am so disappointed to see that neither you or Rocky Mountain PBS are showing Season two of the wonderful BBC series Sherlock starting tomorrow night, May 6th. Hi. After last Sunday's programming, myself and a friend viewer cannot receive Ch 12, 1-2- or 3. Are you experiencing difficulties broadcasting? Do you have any idea why we are not getting the channel? My friend and I use an antenna and a digital converter box on this TV, which is an extra set. Thanks, Eve Guy

As you records will indicate, I am a long time supporter of Channel 12. But I am concerned about your liberal bias on many programs. In particular, Inside Washington. Why do you have three liberals lined up against Charles Krauthammer? Couldn't it be a 50-50 split?

I have already contacted you once about Jerry Yarnell's program that is on Monday mornings at 11 am. He just finished up a three part series on painting Tuscany. The first program was not shown and the second was shown twice, then Monday the third and final program was shown. He is supposed to start a new series next week and I am hoping all episodes will be aired. This is the second series that has been messed up. Maybe someone could preview this before it is aired??

Like Lynn Dolan below, I can't seem to receive the channels over the air today. I've never had this problem with 12.1, 12.2, or 12.3 before, and all my other local channels are still being received.

Wednesay, April 25 7:00 PM I can not get any signal for PBS Channels 12.1, 12.2 or 12.3....is the service down? It would be nice if CPT12 Programming would either provide a recorded message on your phone number or a online status on your website when there's issues. I'm pretty disappointed as there were several programs scheduled this evening that I apparently will be unable to watch. I really liked the program about crop circles that you recently showed. I never knew these designs were found all over the world and how intricate some of them were. I'm still not sure what's behind all of them, but it was nice to see something that made me think of the possibilities.

I just wanted to commend you for broadcasting the show about Crop Circles on Thursday night. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a TV show that was willing to look beyond traditional science explanations about what's going on in our world. There are too many shows on other channels that completely ignore the spiritual connections throughout our planet. Kudos to Channel 12 for having the courage to show a program like that! I hope to see more shows like it in the future!

I absolutely love Celtic Thunder and all their performances are entertaining, engaging and just down right fun. Job well done to George, Ryan, Keith, Neil and Emmett. First, let me say I am a supporting member ($$) and generally love your station. I was very excited to learn about your "What on Earth? Inside the Crop Circle Mystery" program. I set my email reminder for the show. I was so disapointed... there was maybe 10 minutes of "program", then the financial support pitch for a long time, then, REPLAYED the previously shown portion of the program!!! I turned it off. I really was interested in seeing the programing...not watching a glorified fundraiser. I understand your need to raise funds. In my opinion the rhetorical stlye of the presenters was not worthy of a station presenting itself as progressive. The "new age " approach made me stop watching the program. Skeptics and Scientists are regarded as cynics and Narrowly chauvinistic in world view and the "Magickal" worldview was presented an alternative . It's very sad to see Antiscience and Pseudoscience presented as Another way of experiencing "TROOTH" I weep for the future of America when Science is regarded as just for nerds and cynics BTW Cynicism is not Skepticism although frequently equated with it by those who cannot stand scrutiny. Some hope is left in the showing of other series such as "Nova"

I can't say thanks or 'wow' enough regarding the show you put on tonight April 14,2012. I have tuned in on Saturday nights to (hear and see)real musicians play real music and Colbie Caillat blew me away. Every once in awhile a musician/songwriter comes along who is admired by audiences/fans and other musicians and she is one of those, a rare performer. I am probably the only person on the planet who had never had the good fortune to hear and see her perform (with her band) before tonight and I am very very happy that I have gotten to have the Colbie Caillat experience. For about two months you have been airing The Desert Speaks once a week, this week it is on Saturday 4/14 at 2:30 in the afternoon. I set my television to record it and for the past 6 weeks or so you have been showing the same program, the same episode, of The Desert Speaks. You have show the program where the host goes to Peru at least six weeks in a row. Does anyone down there actually watch what you are showing?

I very much enjoyed last Saturday's episodes of Sounds on 29th. If I may suggest a band to feature, I think the Raven and the Writing Desk is the best local band I have heard in years.

I became a member and patiently waited through your endless round of membership programs to see New Tricks on Thursdays again, only to be very dissapointed that it is no longer on your schedule. I did very much enjoy the programs about Clyfford Still and Vance Kirkland tonight. I love your Americana and local music shows on Saturday evenings.

I watch Jerry Yarnell Art on Monday mornings on your channel #12 here iin Denver. He was showing us how to paint a painting named - Tuscany and it was supposed to have three programs, but it started on the second program. You did not air the #1 program where he shows how to start the painting. Can you still air this one? Next week (April 16) he said he would show the third in this series of three.

For the unhappy Finland folks and the 'What's your excuse this time' person, please find some happy pills or something. CPT12 has great commercial free programming and Globtrekker is one of the best programs out there! Really...one jerky video out of many excellent ones and you find the need to complain? A program mistake and this too warrants a tongue lashing? Really? Feel fortunate you can watch public television why don't you? I love this show and look forward to Sunday evenings. I'm glad nothing else is on, otherwise I might not have discovered it. You need some speed reading skills for some episodes, they talk so fast the subtitles blaze across the screen...but their gesturing tells the story too. The better foreign shows eventually get an Americanized version, but it's never as good, and I can't imagine a better version of this one.

My TV guide and even your website shows Japan 7 Days should be showing at 6:30 PM on Saturday, but that's not what is showing. Do you know what happened? Will Japan 7 Days be back on again next Saturday?

Richard Bangs like 99% of humanity refuses to recognize that over population is THE MAIN CAUSE of global climate change. He asked on the show, "What can we do to save the planet for our grandchildren?" Duh, how about not producing so many children and grandchildren! Therein lies the problem and he refuses to even discuss that. And, tragically, a smaller population isn't going to happen. The vast majority of humans want children and grandchildren and all the hybrids and energy saving light bulbs, education, and conservation aren't going to be enough to save the planet, the glaciers, forests and seas from destruction. We are destroying our planet's environment and very few people, and certainly no politicians that I know of, have the courage to wake up humanity to the simple fact that PEOPLE are the problem! And why did you put it on an hour when almost no one could watch it? Huge thumbs down for "public" TV. You lost my support, ever. Let's watch all the mamby pamby B.S. crap you and every other station calls news. Goose Step in line, 12. Go back to the High street days when you were real.

How can you guys maintain your 501C status when you have the likes of Amy Goodman kicking back and allowing the likes of Van Jones to say whatever the hell he wants unchecked? I understand Democracy NOw does not receive public funding to produce the show, but CPT12 does. I think it is hilarious that CPT12 runs that spot with different personalities claiming they think people trust CPT12 for reason X, Y,or Z. Its pretty hypocritical when you prop up your own programming by claiming that it is the honest to goodness truth, when the majority of your news programming is actually opinion based on someone's thinking rather than factual information. This kind of programming is the exact reason why I would never drop spend a red nickle to help CPT to continue its programming. The only reason I watch your station is to blog about the lies you allow to air. Nary a week goes by that I don't put the badmouth on CPT12, PBS, APT, etc . . . It is evident that public broadcasting is nothing more than an extension of the Democratic Party these days. PBS Newshour, Washington This Week, Need to Know, and Moyers & CO are all guilty of denigrating the right. I'm not so closed minded that I am not objective in my thinking; but, I am not so blind that I can't see the bias. I do not believe Public Broadcasters should be allowed to use the tax dollars of the hard working citizens of our nation to promote the freeloading ways of the left. If it were all about Sesame Street and Arthur, I'd have no problem supporting public broadcasting. ON the other hand, I feel that public broadcasting should not be involved in the daily news cycle. CPT12 needs to clean up its programming if it wants my money or I'll be working against you. Should the right regain control over the U.S. Senate, and maintain control over the House in the upcoming election, you can bet I'll be out there pushing to have the tax emempt status for Public Broadcasting stations revoked. The matter has been brought to the floor before, so its no stretch to think it could happen again.

I found this show very provacative & a conversation WE all need to have. However, I found the comments by Ms.Corry concerning the way her daughters are educated about race APPALLING! To say she is aware that we need improvement in race & also to talk about these issues in America is a good thing. But she then goes on to say how at her daughter's EXPENSIVE PRIVATE school (which SHE made sure we all understood the distinction-expensive...AND private), they bring in a TOKEN MINORITY 9HER words!!), all gather around & swoon & pat on the back, then forget about that TOKEN minority as the gather to drink their wine......?????? WHAT???? Is this lady for REAL??? I can't believe nobody on the panel called her out on that utterly OFFENSIVE response! First, that is NOT teaching your daughters anything about race other than how to look down upon others as "TOKENS" to stare at while you enjoy your PRIVILEGE! What is so up with that completely backwards way your learning environment chooses to expose their privileged kids to cultural differences, this is 2012, NOT 1890! WHOA, I can't even believe she said that stuff! Second, HOW, pray tell, is that schools/Ms. Corry teaching those children ANYTHING about equality, social & otherwise, when the OBVIOUSLY teach other cultures AS something in a zoo we at the top stare down at?? (As evidenced by the way she herself SAID they do introductions to other cultures!). If this lady truly cared about making a difference in her daughters lives & others lives, as far as IMPROVING race-relations, she would not go about it by teaching SEPARATION of classes! My neighborhood has been HEAVILY gentrified, but all the new white people are TRYING to improve the PUBLIC SCHOOLS, along with the old timers from the neighborhood, TOGETHER! So that ALL children are at least allowed the same opportunities to succeed. The children mingle & play TOGETHER, as to learn we are all here TOGETHER-not separated & looked upon as DIFFERENT & worthy of condecending looks of aw! Sheesh, I am still rolling how white people are so elitist they can't even HEAR when a person of colour is telling them life is different, there are 2 America's, one for whites & one for the rest of us, being told this is OUR EXPERIENCE & have somebody white STILL shoot it down as "No sirree, Bob, ya got that wrong"! What does a white lady know about being a person of colour in this land? Nothing! So if told, LISTEN, don't say it isn't so! Whatever happened to the Gen-X music videos of the 80's and 90's? In Denver there was an iconic show featuring these artistic and often independent short films. Teletunes was a show ahead of it's time, and still remembered fondly by many viewers with the means and funds to bring more donations to the station. The Gen-X'ers are at the age of financial independance, wanting to expierence that nastalgia of their youth. I believe that this is the right time, and enviorment to start a Teletunes re-boot. Using the original footage, an on-air host could walk the viewer down memory lane. While also making comparisons to current bands, and corrisponding videos. These shows could have featured artist, and emphasize the growing local music scene. With this format, and name recognition I believe the following will not only include the original fanbase, but there will be an overwhelming support system from the music business community. Please consider dusting off those hidden tapes, and introducing a whole new generation to the beauty that was Teletunes. Thank you Stan Garcia

My husband and I are nightly viewers of 12.3 and are annual contributors. We have recently had two concerns. First, the same program will appear on 12.2 and 12.3 at the same exact time. Second, for the past two weeks, the same Vanguard movie has been shown on Thursday nights. In addition, it was a rerun of an earlier film. Why? Has MhZ run out of foreign films? Thanks.

Why isn't Series 3 following Series 2 which just ended????

Last nights Studio 12 on GMO vs. Organic was appalling. There are studies which show that GMO crops are harmful and show evidence of organ damage in laboratory animals after only 90 days of eating some Monsanto GMO corn varieties. This study was published by Gilles-Eric Seralini, Dominique Cellier, and Joe: Spiroux de Vendomois in a European scientific journal. It is interesting that Monsanto funds many agricultural school research projects. So his point of view is suspect. There are many incidences of harm caused by GMO crops, some of which are currently failing. The herbicide Roundup (glyphosate) is a carcinogen and a neuro-toxin that can cause birth defects. This chemical is heavily sprayed on GMO crops and is required in greater amounts due to the evolution of super weeds which have become immune to glyphosate. Other pesticides associated with GMO crops are also failing and creating super worms. This program was below the standards I have come to expect from Colorado Public Television. It would be nice to hear some scientists who oppose GMO's.

Last night on Saturday March 17th, you had an incredible recording artist that was a blues rock guitarist with a 4 piece band. It was a recording of a concert in New York City. Cpt12, We love the Celtic Woman, we could watch and listen to then over and over again. We wonder though, why does it seem as though the venue for their concerts, keep getting smaller? It sends as if fewer and fee of us can have an opportunity to go to a concert for them because there are fewer tickets available due to the small venue. Will they ever get to appear at Red Rocks, Fiddlers Green (or whatever it is now named), or DU or Mile High Stadium? It would be a wonderful experience at any of the afore mentioned venues! Having the concert there would, hopefully, allow for a wider ranger in ticket prices. This last week the duech a vella series of news and information programs from around the world has been off the air. is this a permanent condition or just a technical difficulty? For myself, these news programs have been a resource, whether I agree or not with the content, that is not available in any meaningful way from regular U.S. commercial or goverment controlled media. These foreign perspectives on U.S. and world news are different than what comes from this country's media and are greatly appreciated when trying to understand how others in this world think about and view the greater reality that exists. thank you for your attention. Hello - I have just returned to Colorado and find that all the old programs that used to be in prime time during the week and on the weekends are no longer on the schedule - for example the new series of Doc Marten which just began elsewhere in the country ......like masterpiece theatre, masterpiece classic, Sherlock Holmes, other Brit television series.....why concerts, health programs ? Hello I am Bob Calvert host of a non political program www.talkingwithheroes.com. I am based out of Colorado Springs. For the past 7 years I have been doing what I could in supporting our troops, veterans and families including 5 trips to Iraq and 3 to Afghanistan. I have not money with this project. However I do raise funds with sponsors to cover my trips across the country plus I have made 5 trips over to Iraq and 3 to Afghanistan from 2006 to 2011. Recently I have received calls from a TV Producer in Alabama who wants to put footage from my 2011 trip to Iraq and Afghanistan on 5 cable networks in Alabama as a half hour program. Also I am being put in touch with the owner of a Cable Network based out of Dallas that covers 125 markets about us signing an agreement to put our unedited footage with our troops also on their network plus to launch a new Support Our Troops TV News Program that I have been planning....on their network. In the past I have been interviewed by all of the TV Stations here in the Springs. I have thought about talking with them about launching a similar type of interview program I did from 2005 into 2007 on the internet.. but this time on TV interviewing troops, veterans, military support and veterans groups, covering issues of PTSD, TBI, homeless veterans and much more. We regularly watch NHK programming on Channel 12-2, KBD12, on DIRECTV. For the past several days the programming was not NHK. We set our TIVO to record the NHK programming. This in not the fault of DIRECTV. TIVO, but the programming being shown during the scheduled NHK programming is different yet NHK is listed. What happened and when will you fix this? Why is the programing on Channel 12.3 the same as 12.2? What happened to International Mystery on March 9th and March 10th?

The programs that were scheduled to appear on Channel 12-3 have instead been replaced over the last few days by the same programs that are running on 12-2. Have you lost satellite connections due to the solar flairs? Or are you dropping Channel 12-3 as a separate channel? Or did everyone go home Friday afternoon and assume that everything would run okay on auto-pilot? With no announcement appearing on screen, such as when you temporarily lose a signal, viewers are left in the dark.

I think it is in the public's best interest to continue airing the film, Default: the Student Loan Documentary. As an adult with student loans and I have hit hard times due having to file for bankruptcy due to medical reasons from toxic mold exposure. I can gratefully and thankfully say with unequivocal confidence that I would not have wanted it any other way because I survived and so did my husband and our son who was greatly impacted by the mold. This has been an ongoing process over the last 7 years and I am alive to share my story. Recently, I posted a comment to Senator Harkin on how to help boost the American economy and I am re-posting it here as well because there are so many improprieties within the student loan lending system that I truly believe deserves more media attention. "Lets stop the financial corporate monopoly on our collegiate level educational system by nonprofits and for-profits. The truth is there is no choice when the universities and financial institutions stand to benefit from helping indenture ...young people to a life of slavery to a student loan system that is a monopoly with other major corporations owning them. SIGNING FOR A STUDENT LOAN IS BASICALLY SIGNING IN BLOOD. Look at Xerox, look at Sallie Mae (who is now privatized). Who allowed this to happen? Look at Matteo Fontana. There are NO EXTERNAL CONTROLS TO MONITOR THE STUDENT LOAN INDUSTRY CONDUCT. Who is protecting the American student? There are no student rights, only rights for the financial institutions. Loans can be transferred and transferred and transferred with NO legitimate controls of authority over these transfers while interest rates increase and who is monitoring them? My husband has his own story. For me, after I asked to take a lesser amount, I was told from the financial aid adviser that this was FREE money, take the money. The money is anything but free AND I did not receive full disclosure of the terms of the contract loan, which I have now learned. I had to file bankruptcy due to medical reasons due to toxic mold (not at all pleasant & extremely humbling) and I can state from experience that this system appears corrupt because something stinks. How can Educational Credit Management Corporation, who does business as ECMC, not have to file a "Certificate of Assumed Name" in their incorporating state according to the State's law? They sent out a letter in March of 2010 to 3.3. million clients that their personal data was stolen and the only way they identified themselves was "ECMC". Why does the corporation enforcing these loans not have to follow the laws that made them a corporation and "breathed" life into them? How can Educational Credit Management Corporation have a link to the Federal Reserve Fund? How can one of the board members be a past ABA President who sits as a delegate for the Uniform Law Commission and helps direct state law, be a part of the organization that is making any bankruptcy discharge of student loans near impossible? Especially now that everything falls under the William D. Ford program that will now force everyone into an income contingent 20+ year program that then any forgiven amount is taxable to the IRS and then the debtor's personal items that were protected by bankruptcy law now becomes available ? Who is Scantron? I think I read they own 80% in their service to the educational field. Who is eNumerate? How does this link to Educational Credit Management Corporation? What about the Higher Education Agency Foundation that went belly-up from the Bank of Horton deal in Kansas back in the late 80's, early 90's? How can Val Vikmanis in 2007 still be paid around $300,000 by Educational Credit Management Corporation as a past board member when he is the one who helped transition HEAF to Ed. Cred. Mgmt. Corp? He said in an article, he wanted to become a "bad loan debt collector." Who is monitoring this? How does Terri Shaw get to bounce from one educational entity to another and help run the government FSA system? I have read the Department of Education's OIG reports on their interaction and review of Educational Credit Management Corporation. Have you? Will you? How can they have for-profit affiliates that have benefited from a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt corporation? Now they are starting their own for-profit lending institutions. How is this legitimate? Who is going to care? In my opinion, if you want to help the middle class then you will do something about these players within the educational student loan system and implement controls over their conduct and hold them accountable while allowing for legitimate bankruptcy protections. I had to file pro-se because I can not afford an attorney, and to make it through the whole process, I basically need an attorney because if I do not perform to the Court's standards, there will be no discharge. The Department of Education is allowing this to happen. Well, I would like to know who is protecting the student loan borrower from what appears to be a conflict of interest when persons like Terri Shaw can start at Sallie Mae, go to eNumerate Solutions Inc, then to Federal Student Aid, then Educational Credit Management Corporation, and now to Scantron. These are all major players within the educational system. Who investigates conflict of interest?"

Where is International Mystery??? It wasn't there last night and not again tonight, Sat. 3/10,. I hope they are coming back as I watch them every night and find them more interesting than anything else on TV. I also enjoy the international news sites as they provide more information than most other news broadcasts. Please, please bring them back to channel 12.3. I receive it from a roof antenna here in Pueblo West. But from your other posted comments it seems to be a broadcasting problem and not my antenna.

Just by accident, I tuned in earlier this week to Bill Moyers' and Joseph Campbell's Power of Myth. I have missed previous airings of the program, but was delighted to indulge in the rich and thought-provoking ideas presented. It really hit 'home.' This is a phenomenal program - would it be possible to run single episodes on successive nights or weeks? So much to digest and ponder.... Thank you for airing such an inspiring program!

Our public tv station in chicago ran 1 hour and 8 minutes of it on friday and then the screen froze at the hospital scene. this was about 1208 aM (techincally saturday) CST. No luck catching it later as not scheduled again.

You all aired DEFAULT: The Student Loan Documentary many times but please keep airing it. Our generation needs you to more than ever. It's a great movie and so many of my friends saw it and have been spreading the word. Please, please, please keep airing it. 1 out of 5 people are now defaulting on their student loans and cannot see the light. We need this.

I hope you are able to get 12.3 restored soon. I am experiencing withdrawal symptoms currently. The news lineup there, combined with what the main channel 12 airs, offers news coverage that is equal to or far better than any other news coverage available in this country. Thank the spirits that it is only an equipment failure that has temporarily disrupted MHz and international mysteries. Channel 12.3 is a godsend when compared with Channel 12 and Channel 6, with their commercialization, outright ads, their bizarre pot-pourri of repetitive infomercials disguised as fund raisers, endless cooking shows, ditto for kids shows, right-wing news shows (Lehrer News Hour comes to mind), repeated Nova shows, etc. Channel 12.3 is at least a start in the right direction in presenting what public TV could, and should, be. ---With regard to funding problems, American public TV (and radio) should be 100 percent funded by tax monies: 75% federal, 20% state, and 5% local. The funding should be devoted in the sense that continuity is assured regardless of the vagaries of political winds.

What has happened with the International Mysteries on 12.3? When will they be back? They are the best entertainment option around!

I am very disappointed that MHZ is not being broadcast this evening (3-9-12). I hope this is one evening of reception problems rather than a permanent change in programming. This offering by 12-3 for CPT has been a refreshing change to the usual fare. International Mystery, as well as news programs and discussion forums, that present information and art from other parts of the world, represent the best breadth of broadcasting. Why was this not shown at 10pm on Friday? I am following most of your series programming at 10pm every day (except Thursday, when I support Rocky Tops Square Dance Club). I've followed 'A Case of Conscience' from the beginning, and am disappointed that it wasn't shown tonight.

Glad to hear you are attempting get MHz WorldView programming back on the air. We were very dismayed this evening to find it off the air. 12.3 is the Channel I watch most frequently not only for the variety of news provided but also for International Mystery. We are not cable or dish subscribers for two reasons: can't afford it and don't feel it provides anything better than what we can get for free. And so far it has been totally free. In future I will donate to Colorado Public Television, but PLEEZE get MHz Worldview back. It has become a nightly ritual in our household. thanks!

I was really looking forward to the next installment about the building codes . My channel 12.3 (252 with Comcast) is broadcasting the same programs as channel 12.2 (251 with Comcast)???? I don't get it. This has never happened before. Is it my TV? Satellite interference? Will you broadcast this episode again? Should I write to the MHz Network?

Suddenly MHz Ntwork Ch. 12.3 din't not show up this evening on March 16. Instead the same program on 12.2 was shown. I hope this is just a temporaty. I will be so disappointed if I could not watch Commisario Montalbano on Sunday. Please let me know.

Thank you for airing this series again. This show is actually the reason I first became a public broadcasting supporter back in about 1990 (in Florida). I was so engrossed and inspired, I absolutely had to send in my support. Seeing it again now, I love it even more, and it's come at a very good time to renew my spirit. I love Joseph Campbell, and I love Bill Moyers even more, he is absolutely my hero. Thank you PBS for giving him a home for his amazing and very important work!! And thank you also for ALL of the educational and enlightening shows you air, I've learned more from shows like the Bill Moyers series, NOVA, Frontline, Charlie Rose, etc. (I could list at least 20 regular shows in addition to these wonderful offerings at pledge time), than I could ever have learned in classrooms. There has been a rather heateddiscussion on this website over the validity of pharmaceuticals vs. vitamins/supplements. The discussion veered away from the issues to become a pompous, cruel on Dr. Saul. I always hate this kind of diatribe where a person with an upper level degree somehow makes the intellectual leap that that person is now an expert at everything. Mr. Ziegler seems to believe the nutritional approach is intrinsically dangerous yet the American Association of Poison Control Centers report no deaths (zero, nada, zip) in the 28 years the group has been making reports. The AERS (Adverse Events Reporting System) that is managed by the FDA reports 452,780 deaths from prescription drugs from 2000-2010. As a practicing pharmacist for 18 years, I constantly observe the failure of prescription drugs to fix a stated problem. It was an ironic statement from the head of the large pharmaceutical manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) said in 2005 that fewer than half of patients prescribed some of the most expensive drugs actually derived any benefit from them that made me think of this issue. Dispensing drugs for Alzheimers or cancer then waiting for the patient to be cured just doesn't happen in too many cases. I don't care which side of the argument health success rests on. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't. I can think of numerous failures of pharmaceuticals to solve problems. You don't have a bad heart rhythm because you are low on digoxin. A child does not have ADHD becsuse they are low on methylphenidate. Type 2 diabetes isn't being low on metformin. If you exclude a group of substances because you don't like the documentary in which they are explained, maybe you missed the whole point of your education. If you are only going to memorize information from the pharaceutical industry that has an acute monetary agenda you don't even have to go to class; just send your tape recorder. I am really missing Cooks Country and America's Test kitchen shows? Are they on anymore?

We are really missing the kids' programs at 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. (Martha Speaks and Curious George). The schedule seems to show that they will be back on in a couple of weeks. But it's hard to explain that to a 5-year old that loves to watch a show before school. This is the only decent kids' show in the morning - please bring it back! I don't want to subject him to the Disney channel. Thank you!

I just love being called "dangerous." Have you complained to PBS? Are they hiding behind that darned First Amendment again? Any nutrition or biology student knows that vitamins, by definition, are not drugs. Golly, Joe, what is it about nutrition therapy that upsets you so much? Andrew Saul, Of course vitamins are drugs! You didn’t know? As with anything (drug, vitamin or otherwise) that is biologically active it can be dangerous when used in excess. FYI the National DRUG Code (NDC) for vitamin E is 001820079 (for 200IU). Even “vitamins” need FDA approval before being used for experimental purposes (clinical trials ect.). Also, many of the drugs we use today are analogs of vitamins. A good example would be isotretinoin, a very potent and potentially dangerous (due to renal issues among others) derivative of vitamin A (but you probably already knew that, right?). 1) So, I guess you are citing your own website as a reference now, laughable!! (nice plug though) 2) So, no comment on niacin? Am I just making up the fact that there is no LDL-C lowering benefit? Am I just making up hepatic necrosis too? Keep in mind some forms of niacin are only available via prescription due to the potential risks. Oh, yes, these are ABSOLUTLY safe at any dose (sarcasm). 3) All I have to say about lipid therapy is NCEP ATP III guidelines (have you heard of them? Our pharmacist friend Joseph seems to believe that nutrients are dangerous and drugs, somehow, are not. It's a nice legend, but only a legend. Nutrient therapy is safe and effective. There is a whole body of knowledge out there waiting for those interested. A lot of this is at my peer-reviewed natural healing website, www.doctoryourself.com. Although your Ph.D. is not from an accredited organization I would consider you a doctor, just not one qualified to speak about this topic of medicine (correct me if I’m wrong). If I need an expert in human behavior (or how to sell a book) you would be my go-to guy! I think you know why your book is controversial in the medical community, because your ideas do not make sense and there are huge volumes of data (clinical trials ect.) to support the opposite of what you are preaching. Yes, I do not doubt that Dr. Steven E. Nissen said: "Niacin is really it. Nothing else available is that effective." But what is the context!! I bet you he was talking about reduction of triglycerides and increase in HDL-C. However niacin does not reduce LDL-C (also known as the “bad cholesterol”), which is the goal for health benefits. Am I right? And you should know better than most that "All things are poison and nothing (is) without poison; only the dose makes that a thing is no poison." ~Paracelsus. As you know you can die from dinking too much water! You are correct in saying that people aren’t reported of having died from vitamins, the cause of death is reported as other manifestations/diseases caused by the drug eg. liver failure or renal failure. Why do you think niacin has a max dose of 4.5g daily, would it be due to Hepatotoxicity (liver toxicity), Rhabdomyolysis (muscle wasting) and Hepatic Necrosis (liver cell death)!?! (resource Micromedex). ALL I’m saying is that it doesn’t seem as though you have the patients better interest at heart in this matter and you could be hurting people that decide to “doctor themselves”. Please, please, please consult your physician before starting or stopping a new medication (including dose and frequency) especially including over the counter medications, vitamins and herbals/supplements or changes in diet (especially those on Warfarin). Always a pleasure to have reason and opportunity to respond to such polite postings! Let's start with a couple of facts, shall we? 1) Dr. Steven E. Nissen, president of the American College of Cardiology said: "Niacin is really it. Nothing else available is that effective." 2) According to national data collected by the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC), over a twenty-eight year period, vitamin supplements have been alleged to have caused the deaths of a total of eleven people in the United States. A new analysis of US poison control center annual report data indicates that there have, in fact, been no deaths whatsoever from vitamins . . . none at all, in the 28 years that such reports have been available. May I add than **most** "real doctors", such as Pharm Ds, Phds, MDs, and all other professionals, rarely need to resort to name-calling.

Hello, I just wanted to encourage people to be extremely careful about what this guy is saying. He is NOT an M.D. his M.S. is in education and his Ph.D. is in human ethology (behavior)!!! You are probably just as qualified to speak on this subject as he is. This guy is just trying to sell a book. I fear people will hurt themselves taking bad advice based on opinion not grounded in reality or science. I'm a health care professional (Pharm.D. candidate 2014, yes a real doctor), we are trained in not only medicine but also natural medicines. I would like to stress that these both work well when used appropriately. However this high dose vitamin idea can kill people. Vitamins such as A, D, E and K are lipid soluble and are proven to increase death at high dose, that is why K is only available by prescription!! In this program he mentions niacin (which has a high level of side effects such as flushing, keep in mind the no-flush versions have no cholesterol benefit at all. We do use this medication in certain cases via prescription strength but at levels this guy is talking about it would be very expensive over the counter. Also keep in mind these don't lower LDL-C (which is the important one to lower. They only lower TG's and increase HDL-C)). He claims that this is better than prescription medication alternatives which is a blatant lie. Statins are miracle drugs that save lives, have very low side effects and are inexpensive (this is proven in meta analysis, aka multiple randomized control trials and others). It is proven nothing lowers LDL-C more than rosuvastatin. Please take your medications regularly as prescribed, it could save your life. He also mentions Warfarin please take this as directed. People are at high risk when they don't take this exactly as prescribed, your doctor carefully adjusts your dose based on your INR Fluctuations caused by not taking this correctly or with too many/too little/inconsistant vitamins can make this very dangerous (internal/external bleeding and thromboembolic events, very bad and lead to death). All I'm saying is please eat healthy and exercise, this is the best way to be healthy and will give you ampul amounts of vitamins if done correct. If you chose to take supplements great, just please, please, please do not take more that the RDA (especially A, D, E and K). If you have any additional questions please talk to your Doctor or Pharmacist, they are there to help you and know what they are talking about! I think it would be instructive to interview someone who has accurate information about how much the U.S. gave the banks over the last few years, and how much of that has been paid back, with interest. I understand that the bailout money came in many different forms, which is why it is so difficult to try to track this, as a lay person. I watched your program with Jeffrey Smith this morning concerning GMO crops. After the show, I went to the internet to find some background information on Jeffrey Smith and the science behind his assertions. What I found is disturbing to me. The majority of his claims are not supported in peer reviewed scientific literature. I wonder if your station has done any background investigations of Jeffrey Smith before promoting his claims. If you didn't, shame on you. If you did, I consider your endorsement of his agenda even more despicable.

Coliandro started to show up on Friday nights and soon after I see a new series "A Case of Conscience" now listed for the next 4 Fridays. What happened to Coliandro? Did people not take to this series as well as they did to Montalbano?

Tonight's show was brilliant. Being only 1 year old in 1951, I wasn't sure that was really Ethel Merman and I was thinking that David Kopel is so much like his father. Only a couple of modern references, "six degrees of separation from Stalin," made me realize that this wasn't a re-broadcast. Nonetheless an incredible production worthy of an Emmy. Congratulations.

When will Up from the Bottoms air?

I love most of the International Mysteries. Especially Montalbano and Brunetti (I am particularly amused by watching a show set in Italy spoken in German and subtitled in English. Crazy.) I get broadcast TV with a converter to my old analog TV, so I'm getting 12.3. but, when I am at my kids' house I can't find a 12.3. They have DirectTV. Just when we need him the most, Bill Moyers has returned to offer in-depth interviews and insight without the spin and raised voices to which we have become accustomed. I've just been watching Gary Null going on at enormous length with his wacky and scientifically unsupported nostrums about mental health. This man's quackery is akin to some unqualified sawbones in the Wild West. It is astonishing and dismaying that an allegedly intellectually respectable channel like CPT would allow anyone like Null near the airwaves where he can influence vulnerable people. I just saw Null describing some woman who had Alzheimer's Disease and he was giggling when he described how she was stooped and with drool falling from her mouth. He was giggling! His co-host had to dig him in the ribs with her elbow to jolt him back to propriety. What is this jerk doing giving emotional advice on the airwaves? Why is CPT promoting him and his dreadful pseudoscientific books? Then at the end, we see the program is "Copyright Gary Null and Associates" — this was supposed to be a CPT fundraiser, but it looks more like a two-hour Gary Null commercial. This is outrageous and irresponsible programming.

I was disappointed to see some acts that we have seen several times before . Although talented hearing the same old stuff over and over is getting a bit tired . On the other hand a guy like Gary Lewis who we rarely get to hear from did one quick song and out . I guess its quality and not quantity we are all looking for . I enjoy pbs and i hope they take the criticism constructively

I really enjoy all of the Scandavian mysteries now playing(and Brunetti), including this very unusual "historic" version. IN addition to the stories, the sense of place and a different but not alien culture is extraordinary. I just wish you would replay them because one cannot always watch TV at 7 each night. I sent another msg. over to your tech. side there @ CPT. Anyways, stating I get miffed when on the cable guide they show other titles other than what is on/showing. I am a big Frontline follower & they had "Natural Heroes" and something else before that instead of what was really on. It can't be that hard for them to get it right, they need a wake-up call big time cause this is not the FIRST TIME it has happened. I wanted to let you know so you can call them out on their obvious prob. & if they hear it from you and their customers maybe something will finally be done about it. I mean when you watch t.v. don't you want to know what you are watching when you land on that channel? If you ask me it is a big disservice too, not only that affects me but you also @ KBDI(CPT)! Just letting you know that the Van Veeteren series and The Octopus Series are the best in my opinion. the Scandanaavian series with the lovely blood woman is not to my likely. All though this detective is lovely and entirely humane, there are too many gruesome and gory scenes. As a clinical psychologist, I should warn you that such graphic footage can induce secondary post traumatic stress in the viewer. The images tend to repeat themselves in a persons mind involuntarily after the movie is complete. An aware person who does meditation, or is otherwise self observant, will notice this, while a less aware person may become more irritable, sleep more poorly, etc. without knowing why. As interesting and as well done as the show is, I have decided NOT TO WATCH IT. It does have really have the same degree of relevance to current day social issues or the moral content that the other mystery series I mentioned do have. And neither of those is as graphically violent with bizarre killings. This more brutal program does highlight the relationship between crime and mental illness, but also instills unnecessary stress. I will also not be watching the Weds. night series. With the Octopus series as long as it is, I'm sure there are many viewers like myself who would love to see the episodes that they have missed. I woulld like to see this continue from the beginning which you have started this year. I appreciated this as I'd never seen the older episodes and would like this to continue. I am very upset that Comcast has removed Channel 12 as part of their basic customer package effective on my TV - January 10,2012. Was the station aware that Comcast was dropping you from basic cable in their new digital package? As a loyal viewer, what can I do to influence Comcast to reinstate you in their basic package? What are you planning to do? Channel 12 is going to loose major contributions from Boulder. How did Comcast make this decison to replace you on Ch. 12? Were you advised in advance? As a regular viewer, I have noticed something about the music you are sometimes using for the Coming Up slides announcing the next show. Several times a week I hear you use two songs from the Heartless Bastards album "All This Time". These songs are "Into the Open" and "All this Time"... both written and performed by Erika Wennerstrom of the Heartless Bastards. Sometimes the music is accredited wrongly to Rogers... but usually there are no credits listed at all. I've heard the music used on 12.1 and 12.2. How do I know this? I'm a big Heartless Bastards fan. I love hearing Erika's music used for this purpose. But I'd like to see that she is properly credited. I presume that someone at the station is a Heartless Bastards fan and made the original selection. I'm also presuming you have rights to use it or it is under some fair use right. If not, contact her and she might be quite happy to grant the rights. So do Erika and the Heartless Bastards a favor and properly credit them for the music. Thanks

We have heard that CPT-12 will air "Natural Healing with Dr. Stengler" in February, 2012. Would it be possible to get exact dates and times when the series will be aired? Of course, it was because I could look forward to the mysteries of Montalbano, Maigret, Van Veteren, etc. I can't even remeber the station that carried the series in our area, but, I do know that they're not on anymore. I can't begin to express how much I miss them! If possible, could you let me know if there is a station in my area that carries the various series? My wife and I live in Fort Collins and we frequently enjoy watching PBS TV. However, twice in the past several weeks we gave up watching PBS Sunday evening programming, each around 10:00 pm, because of obvious broadcast problems. Although there were differences, both involved a fairly rapidly repeating image in the middle of a program with no progression. I tried calling a PBS phone number found on Google (720-234-9933), but no one answered. Don't you have some responsible person on duty to monitor and correct such problems when they occur?

Are you going to run it any longer. I think it has been about 4 weeks since you ran in lieu of perhaps Suzie Orms or that brain food guy or the gaunt diet guy that hangs with the good looking chick in your studio. Why don't they just put it on Create? I guess I can watch it online.

what those idiots were saying about deportation was very offensive. First of all these ILLEGALS are criminals--they are here illegally--and ICE has every right to deport them. Why aren't you showing the program listed in your CPT12 weekly listing, or at least state the change when it is supposed to come on? I've been waiting all week to see this at 7 only to have a nature program on zebra fish come on instead.

It would be nice to know which episode number is airing. Every entry simply says,"Essential Pepin" with a generic description of the entire series.

The panel, especially Bruce McAndless, were outstanding, and your childish delight at their achievements mirrored my own. What on earth is wrong with you people? Last week you usurped Journal (DW from Berlin) with the most inane of programs, Democracy Now. Today (12/21/11), you're showing the same Journal you showed last night. What do you take your viewers for? We are not sheep who blindly follow whatever is on the tube! PLEASE figure out what the heck you want to do with the Journal! Why are you wasting my time???? I, for one, am influenced when it comes to your fund drives.

Gary Null, as usual, is amazing! What I found most helpful is that he and the experts present facts and the results of scientific studies - and not baseless opinions. As a holistically-oriented psychotherapist who treats people with depression, I learned information and approaches that I can pass on to my clients so they can heal themselves of their depression and anxiety much more quickly. I learned at least as much about depression and how to treat it from Gary Null, et al in this broadcast as I did in the four years of graduate school for my doctorate in clinical psychology! I didn't agree with everything that was said based upon my 30+ years of practice as a therapist, but even the information I didn't agree with was valuable because it was food for thought for me (healthy food!). I loved the women who played guitar and sung a couple of duets with him. Does anyone know her name?

I just had the strangest conversation with one of our fund raisers. She wanted a donation, of course, and I told her that my husband is the one that handles that and that he has been donating for years and just some him the form and he'll send a check. She said she has to talk to him before she can send him anything. I told her we are leaving the country on friday and she just send information. She said, and I quote, "I can't do that so I'll put you down as a no." That's ridiculous. My husband, Bob Hofmann, has been conributing for about 20 years. If you don't want his money this year, fine, we'll donate somewhere else.

I agree with some of the above viewers, that Colorado Inside Out is going downhill. It's leaning much more to the right, and too many of the comments sound like the worthless drabble of people out of touch with so many of us. Lately, I've just been turning off the TV in the middle of the show. I might suggest getting a different host, one with less bias, for starters. As for Occupy Denver, I think it should continue until people such as your commentators get the point, which many of them seem not to have done yet!

There was no OUT OF IRELAND show this Sunday 12/4/11. It would be wonderful if this show was aired each week as previously scheduled.

The programming on CPT 12 on today's date - excepting the Foreigner concert - more adequately resembles back-to-back infomercials. If the programming department actually PAYS for the right to run Suze Ormand and the rest of today's programming, management needs to seriously re-evaluate the talent within the programming department. I cannot bear to watch what's on today therefore I surely cannot donate to support it. Leave the health lectures, the money lectures and the infomercials to commercial television and concentrate on quality program such as Ken Burns, prime concert series, and programs of an international interest please. Thanks.

On Dec. 2, I decided to watch a full episode of Colorado Inside Out. I was dismayed by the lack of diversity on the panel and the perspectives offered. The panel included two men, an ultra conservative and a conservative, along with two politically middle of the road women. This first became apparent with the narrow spectrum of opinions expressed on the Occupy movement and its Denver participants. But the lack of a progressive perspective became most apparent during the "weekly outrage" segment, which Dave Kopel used to rant about Barnie Frank's retirement. Actually, he merely used the event of Frank's retirement during the week to air some delusional rant about Frank's responsibility for the housing/financial collapse. While I'm guessing you have some rule about personal responses among the panelists, the fact that no one challenged Kopel's own ad hominen screed or at least checked his Kool-Aid, was a major journalistic lapse and common complaint against mainstream political coverage. I appreciate the intent of the show to cover local/regional issues, and watch cpt12 regularly. Thank you for your time.

(I wrote to you last year also, got reply from Larry Patchett) This year's two-hours of the CIO time machine, four episodes, was an absolute orgy - I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! The participants are all just genius, as is the wonderful scripting (-if it indeed is scripted vs. spontaneous - some of both?) - they all displayed extensive knowledge of Colorado and Denver history, especially the subtler aspects of same. The satire was so clever, really pure genius, with all the double-entendres - I just loved every minute of each episode. Please thank all of them: Patty, Raj, Peter, Kevin, Dannie, Ed and all others who I'm not naming - absolutely brilliant, all of them! The time machine certainly deserves all the awards it has been given, and more. I savor the prospect of many more episodes in the future! When will it be done again???? Rebecca Watt - Centennial

On last nights show, the subject turned to the Solar Industry and how China is making a play to dominate the world market. Right on cue, one of the pompous conservatives (not important which one, they all say the same vacuous talking points) stated that we 'don't want our government picking winners and losers" and that free market "investment capital" should be used to develop our Solar Industry. This conservative, as he straddled his 'high horse', was making a massive oversight (which conservatives consistently rely on for their existence). The oversight was that China is a central government and they do pick winners and losers and they are absolutely dominating the United States in the Solar Industry! Throughout the history of our great country, we, the people, through our tax dollars, have subsidized and invested in the large emerging infrastructure industries in order to get them started; but according to conservatives (ie. representatives of the fossil fuel industry), we should not do this for the Solar Industry.

Try as may, I cannot find a listing on your website for the Allen documentary, scheduled nationally for Sunday, Nov 20 and Monday Nov 21, presumably at 7:00 pm MST. Why is it scheduled in Denver for Dec 25th?

Thanks for airing this remarkable series. It's helped me understand modern physics theories better than any show or literature I've ever encountered. It really helped that you are showing it in addition to PBS Channel six because I missed some episodes of their showing. Luckily, you were there for back up, and it made all the difference.
