Your station may already be aware that George Donaldson died of a massive heart attack. He was only in his 40'! What loss to not only the Celtic Thunder, but also to his fans! He was a huge part of the group!

CPT12 Response:
 Thank you for your email.
St. Patrick’s Day weekend brought the sad  news of the sudden death of one of Celtic Thunder’s most loved  singers, George Donaldson. Mr. Donaldson was a good friend of Colorado Public Television.  He visited the CPT12 studio twice to help with fundraising.  He will be missed. We are airing the program  Celtic Thunder Heritage  tonight at 9pm in memory of Mr. Donaldson.
This year’s June 14thBrit Floyd concert at Red Rocks is a benefit for Colorado Public Television. We are airing the 2013 documentary of their last Red Rocks appearance to help promote the concert and help raise money for the station. These funds will help us to continue to provide the programming you enjoy on CPT12.
All the Best,
Joan

Once again Channel 12 has supported this wonderful group, Celtic Thunder. I was at the concert tonight and support your station by buying a ticket so I can go to the meet and greet. Again this year you did an amazing job and the concert was fantastic. The venue was so good this year and the house was packed. I am starting to make friends that I see only at the concerts and it is great fun. A bunch was at the concert last year and they were back this year. Please keep up the great work and thanks again for supporting Celtic Thunder here of our entertainment and enjoyment. It is the highlight of the concerts I attend. Am looking forward to the next tour.
CPT12 Response:

George Donaldson

George Donaldson
Feb 1, 1968 - Mar 12, 2014

CPT12 is saddened by the sudden death of George Donaldson, principal singer for Celtic Thunder, who passed away on Wednesday, March 12 from a massive heart attack. He was only 46.

Donaldson visited the CPT12 studio on two occasions – he was authentic, warm, witty, and talented. A great guy who will be missed.

Born and raised in Glasgow, Donaldson was a self-taught musician, accomplished on both guitar and flute, with a lifelong passion for Celtic music inspired by his late father Bernard.

Known in Celtic Thunder as the “steadfast” one, Donaldson carried the distinction of being the sole Scotsman in the show, as well as the only married family man of the group. As an original member, Donaldson appeared in all nine Celtic Thunder concert specials and on all of the show’s CDs and DVDs released to date.

Hugely successful, Donaldson and Celtic Thunder performed to rapturous audiences around the world.
