Fishing Behind the Lines

Fall Fishing for Salmon

Bundle up as host, Don Meissner, takes to a frigid stream in Oswego County, New York, with guest, Tom Bryant, and volunteer, Michael Ortiz. The three men wade the cold waters in search of the salmon and steelhead that swim their way up the rivers from Lake Ontario. Don discovers more about the life cycle of the salmon, who spawn their eggs before dying, and the steelhead who follow in hopes of feasting on salmon eggs.

Soldiers share their experiences in the Army while fishing is introduced as a natural way to relieve stress and features one of the most popular outdoor activities. Fishing Behind the Lines invokes the soldier’s story, their lives serving in the United States Military and its effect on their families, and their overall life experiences. Each episode highlights a day of fishing in one of the great lakes, regional streams or rivers. The series, Hosted by Don Meissner, with active duty or retired Soldiers as special guests will do much to link the military and civilian communities and foster national pride.
