DENVER – (September 17, 2008) – Which ballot issues will be debated next in the Colorado Decides series? Stay tuned. That’s the advice of Dominic Dezzutti, series producer, who explains that the Channel 12 production team is remaining “light on its feet” as key players of ballot issues negotiate possible deals that may – or may not – remove amendments from the ballot that voters are facing in November. The Amendment 47 debate will be broadcast at 8 p.m. in the Colorado Decides series on Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on KBDI-Channel 12, Dezzutti says. “The ballot issue debated at 8:30 could be either 56 and 57 or 49, depending upon the status of those measures over the next few days.” The “right to work” Amendment 47 “right to work” proposal will be debated by proponent Kelley Harp of A Better Colorado and opponent Jess Knox, executive director of Protect Colorado’s Future. A debate featuring Amendment 56, which would require certain employers to provide health insurance to their employees, and Amendment 57, which would provide workers injured on the job with stronger legal rights, is slated to air at 8:30 p.m. However, if current negotiations that that have been reported between business and labor result in withdrawal of those amendments, the Amendment 49 debate will air at 8:30. Amendments 56 and 57 will be debated by a supporter from Local 7 of the United Food and Commercial Workers. Doug Friednash will represent the opposing view. Amendment 49 will be debated by proponent Jon Caldara of the Independence Institute and opponent Jess Knox of Protect Colorado’s Future. The debates, hosted by KBDI’s Eric Sondermann with an interview panelist from the Rocky Mountain News, will provide views of the two important ballot issues. Both sides of at least eight ballot issues are presented in editions of Colorado Decides on four Mondays in September at 8 p.m. Weekly topics will be announced on the www.kbdi.org website. Debates of Congressional candidates in districts 2, 4, 6 and 7 will be presented in October. Colorado Decides is a partnership of KBDI-TV, CBS4 and the Rocky Mountain News. After the debate airs on Channel 12, the debates will be available for viewing on all three partners’ websites: www.kbdi.org, www.rockymountainnews.com, and www.cbs4denver.com. ### Marcia Simmons Director of Marketing and Communications KBDI-TV, Channel 12 (PBS) World View – Community Voice 2900 Welton St. Denver, CO 80205 303-991-5020 (direct); 303-489-4012 (cell) DIRECTIONS to KBDI From I-25: Take Park Avenue exit; west (turns into 22nd) to Welton; left on Welton to 29th St. From I-70 & Washington St.: South on Washington (Washington becomes 38th St.) .5 mile; slight right onto Walnut (.1 mile); slight left onto Downing (.7 mile); right onto California St. (.2 mile); Left on 29th St. (.1 mile) From Lincoln & Colfax: North on Lincoln .5 mile; slight left on 20th; immediate right on Welton St. .8 mile to 29th. |
