‘Democracy Now!’s Amy Goodman is First Journalist to Receive 'Alternative Nobel'

DENVER – (December 8, 2008) – Democracy Now! Journalist Amy Goodman received the Right Livelihood Award today, an award in the Swedish parliament that is known as the alternative Nobel.

Democracy Now! airs weeknights at 5:30 p.m. on KBDI Channel 12.
 
Goodman is the first journalist to receive the award which was established in 1980 to honor and support those “offering practical and exemplary answers to the most urgent challenges.”

Goodman was selected for “developing an innovative model of truly independent grassroots political journalism that brings to millions of people the alternative voices that are often excluded by the mainstream media.
