DENVER – (February 17, 2009) – “John Denver: A Song’s Best Friend” will air Monday, Mar. 2 at 7 and 9 p.m. on KBDI-Channel 12 (PBS).
This program celebrates the late singer-songwriter's legacy of classic performances. It includes his popular 1970s television specials plus rare footage from his Sing Australia! (1984 and 1994) and performances at Red Rocks(1973 and 1982), and interviews with the people closest to him, including ex-wife Annie, producer and arranger Milt Okun, manager Hal Thau, composer Lee Holdridge, plus band members Pete Huttlinger and John Somers. Songs performed include "Sunshine on My Shoulders," "Country Roads," "Annie's Song," "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and the beloved classic, "Rocky Mountain High."
KBDI will be offering tickets to the June 27 “John Denver – The Tribute” concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre as a thank you gift during out upcoming pledge drive. The Tribute concert will commemorate the 20th anniversary of John Denver’s final performance at Red Rocks. Presented by Roy Rivers, who is hailed by critics and fans alike as the most authentic and enduring John Denver tribute in the world. The concert will also feature Steve Weisberg, Denver’s lead guitarist during the pinnacle of his career.
