DENVER– March 14, 2009 – KBDI received two of the state’s three public television station awards from the Colorado Broadcasters Association tonight at the association’s Celebration of Excellence Gala. “Snapshots from DNC,” a program produced by the station during the Democratic National Convention, garnered first place for the state’s best news or public affairs special for public TV. The nightly program aired immediately following KBDI’s convention coverage with CBS4 and included convention events as well as behind-the-scenes stories for viewers. A KBDI spot for car donations that featured a nostalgic AM radio voiceover won first place for best membership appeal. The Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards of Excellence are designed to honor individual and station excellence within the Colorado broadcasting industry and to celebrate broadcasters’ service to their communities. It was the first time that awards for public broadcasting were included in the annual awards ceremony. The awards gala is held each March in Denver. Stations compete in a variety of categories with judging of entries administered by another state’s broadcast association. |
