PBS Documentary Captures Vitality and Diversity of Today’s Religious-Environmental Activists

DENVER – (April 2, 2009) – “Renewal,” a 90-minute documentary that captures the vitality and diversity of today’s religious-environmental activists, will air Sunday, April 12 at 7 p.m. on KBDI-Channel 12 (PBS).

The program will repeat Sunday, Apr. 26 at 8:30 p.m.

Featuring Jews, Christians, Muslims and other people of faith who are standing up for the environment, the film has been used as a vehicle for discussion inspiration among activist groups.

Eight stories of renewal are featured from congregations across the country.  Sample features include Evangelical Christians who are fighting mountaintop removal in Appalachia, Muslims who are supporting sustainable farming, Jews who are helping children experience the bond between nature and spirituality and Catholics and Native Americans who embrace religious ritual in a struggle to protect New Mexico’s land and water.
