DENVER – (May 3, 2009) – One of yachting’s premier racing events – the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-2009 – airs Sundays at 5 and 5:30 p.m. on KBDI-Channel 12 (PBS). 

The race – often called the “Everest of Sailing” – pits the world’s best sailors against one another as they circle the globe to vie for one of the sport’s most highly coveted prizes. 

Americas’ Cup champion, ESPN commentator and author Gary Jobson hosts the weekly recaps of the nine-month race of 39,000 nautical miles. 

KBDI airs two episodes each week. The championship leg will air September 27.

The ocean marathon begins in Alicante, Spain and includes stopovers in India, China, Brazil, South America, the United States Ireland, Sweden and Russia.  Seven cameras on board the boats capture the high drama of living and racing on the open ocean.
