Two Local Experts Separate H1N1 Flu Facts from Fiction at www.KBDI.org
Denver—May 7, 2009 — Two local experts separated H1N1 flu facts from fiction during at interview with Studio 12 host Steffan Tubbs last night. The program is available for free video-on-demand viewing on the KBDI-Channel 12 website at www.KBDI.org.
Practical information and advice was provided by Dr. Daniel Perlman, an infection disease physician in Denver and president of the Colorado chapter of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and Dr. Chris Urbina, director of Denver’s public health at Denver Health.
Ivan Steinke, executive director of the Colorado Pork Producers Council, also participated in the program, addressing the $7.8 million pork industry loss due to misconceptions about the flu. Perlman and Urbina discussed other misperceptions as well as basic steps people can take to reduce transmission of infectious diseases.
