Mondays = Travel on KBDI 12 (PBS) DENVER – (August 19, 2009) – Need a vacation? Then, travel affordably with KBDI- Channel 12 (PBS) every Monday night starting September 7. Mondays will be for travel, generally speaking, with Globe Trekker and other travel programs airing during primetime. On September 7 at 8 p.m., Globe Trekker’s Megan McCormick will explore Micronesia, a chain of more than 2,000 islands. McCormick’s travels will start on Guam, followed by a visit to Pohnpei, the capital island, where she hikes through the vast vegetation to the beautiful Kepirohi waterfall. She explores the archaeological ruins of Nan Madoi, dives among sunken Japanese warships, kayaks on Jellyfish Lake in Palau and ends her journey on Yap where she visits a colony of hump-backed turtles. Open Road with Doug McConnell will follow at 9 p.m. with Art Wolfe’s Travels to the Edge completing the travel evening at 9:30 p.m. In this episode, Wolfe’s travels begin in high, rugged Altiplano, Bolivia. The Altiplano's dazzling dreamscapes include the world's largest salt flat, an island of golden cactus, scarlet-tinted lakes, twin volcanoes and surreal skies. He explores the southern Andes of Patagonia embracing Torres del Paine National Park and then rafts down to the icy Kongakut River to visit North America’s last pure and untamed wilderness. --30-- About KBDI _____ |
