DENVER– March 16, 2009 – Colorado Public Television has received a public television station award from the Colorado Broadcasters Association at the association’s Celebration of Excellence gala. "Sudan – Part 2," a Studio 12 program produced by the station, garnered an Award of Excellence for the state’s best news or public affairs special for public television. Heather Domko and Tamara Banks were co-producers, Tamara Banks was the program host and Dominic Dezzutti was executive producer. The station also received a CBA Certificate of Merit for best mini-documentary or series for Allen True’s West. Joshua Hassel was the producer and Heather Dalton was editor. The Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards of Excellence are designed to honor individual and station excellence within the Colorado broadcasting industry and to celebrate broadcasters’ service to their communities. It was the first time that awards for public broadcasting were included in the annual awards ceremony. The awards gala is held each March in Denver. Stations compete in a variety of categories with judging of entries administered by another state’s broadcast association.
