Author: Dutch Hodges
Biennial of the Americas: Global Leaders Come to Denver Denver – (June 30, 2010) – Denver hosts the Biennial of the Americas this June, in which global leaders come to take part in a special celebration of the Western Hemisphere. In order to support this event based in art, culture and politics, CPT 12 will alter its broadcast schedule to fit the highlights of this worldly event, and help bring the celebration to the community. As a contribution to the celebration of this event, CPT 12 will air a variety of films whose themes tie into the Biennial. Some films will provide a world view into the culture and events of other Western nations, such as “Eternal Cuba With Enrique Chia” on July 5 at 9:00 p.m. and “Archeology of Memory: Villa Grimaldi” on July 7 at 7:00 p.m. Others will provide more of a community voice, highlighting events and themes from our own nation, such as “ReCreating America: Creativity and Learning” on July 12 at 9:00 p.m. Seven roundtable discussions will take place before live audiences in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House of Denver. These unscripted discussions among 10 to 12 participants will focus on the important issues of the day, ranging from “The Achievement Gap” in education to women as the “Drivers of the New Economy.” CPT 12 will broadcast these discussions at 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the weeks of July 12 – 15 and July 19 – 22. As the celebration wraps up, the Biennial organization will produce a documentary showing Biennial of the Americas as a whole. This documentary will include interviews with the participants, attendees, and show the contributions from other Denver organizations. CPT 12 will likely air this documentary at a date and time still to be decided. ### About Colorado Public Television (CPT12) Colorado Public Television, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2010, has set itself apart with carriage of an unparalleled amount of local public affairs programming.
