Tamara Banks Discusses Slavery and Genocide in Sudan Denver
(August 18, 2010) - Studio 12 host and correspondent, Tamara Banks recently traveled to Sudan in July as an advocate and humanitarian to the plight of the Sudanese. She and an expert panel will discuss the unending slavery and genocide in Sudan on Colorado Public Television (CPT12) on Wednesday, August 25 at 8:00 p.m.
Insight and information will be provided by Roger Winter, former US Special Envoy in Sudan; Mangar Amerdid, a Sudan native and Executive Director of Sudan Leadership Institute of New Sudan (LIONS); Dr. Ved Nanda, Vice Provost for Internationalization at the University of Denver; and Pastor Heidi McGinness, Outreach Director of Christian Solidarity International USA, an advocacy and abolitionist group against slavery in the region. They will speak about the slavery in Sudan continually denied by the Sudanese government; the wave of genocide consuming the country; the effect on the country if Southern Sudan secedes to form a new nation; and what humanitarian assistance Americans can offer the people of Sudan.
