“Studio 12” Covers President Obama’s Afghanistan Troop Withdrawal Announcement
Panel of Colorado Soldiers & Experts to Discuss Pros and Cons of Plan

Denver- (June 28, 2011) –Colorado Public Television’s signature live call-in program, “Studio 12,” will look at the recent announcement by President Obama, to withdrawal 10,000 American troops from Afghanistan in 2011 and along with a conversation with Colorado soldiers and a panel of experts, will discuss the pros and cons of the President’s plan.

After the May 6 special forces raid that killed Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, calls for an end to American involvement in the war in Afghanistan have been rising, across party lines and according to recent public opinion polls. The President, in his June 22 address to the nation, has called for a total of 33,000 troop withdrawals by 2012, leaving approximately 68,000 troops in Afghanistan and accounting for more in-country troops than before Obama took office in 2009.

The discussion will be lead by “Studio 12” co-host Tamara Banks and guests will include:
* Robert Hazan, Metropolitan State College, Professor of Political Science.
* Mohammad Norris, Afghanistan native now a businessman living in Denver.
* Two unconfirmed guests including an Afghanistan War veteran and a political advisor.

“Studio 12” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. These programs will be available for free video-on-demand viewing on the CPT12 website at www.cpt12.org.
