CPT12 Pleased to Premier New Moyers Series, “MOYERS & COMPANY” Episodes premier weekly, beginning Friday, January 13 at 9 p.m.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 11, 2011

Denver, CO – Colorado Public Television is delighted to premier “Moyers & Company,” the new weekly series by Bill Moyers this Friday, January 13 at 9 p.m. This highly anticipated show will be a weekly hour of compelling and vital conversation about life and the state of American democracy, featuring some of the best thinkers of our time. A range of scholars, artists, activists, scientists, philosophers and newsmakers bring context, insight and meaning to important topics. The program builds out CPT12’s award-winning Friday night public affairs lineup that begins at 7:30 p.m. with Inside Washington, followed by Colorado Inside Out at 8 p.m. Devil's Advocate with Jon Caldara at 8:30 pm, the market premier of Moyers & Company at 9 p.m. and Charlie Rose at 10 p.m.

According to Moyers, the first three slated broadcasts will “explore what’s happening to the middle class as rising inequality turns our country in a society of winners and losers, with little sympathy for the losers.”
  • January 13 - Featuring two noted political scientists, Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson, who have published one of the most important political books in years: Winner-Take-All Politics: How Washington Made the Rich Richer--and Turned Its Back on the Middle Class. Also hearing testimony from heartland Americans on what’s happened to their quality of life and a report on Occupy Wall Street that puts the movement in perspective.
  • January 20 & 27 - Featuring interviews with David Stockman, who speaks candidly about how money dominates politics, distorting free markets and endangering democracy. Former chairman of Citigroup, John Reed, and former Senator Byron Dorgan of South Dakota discuss the mid 90’s merger with Citigroup and Travelers Group, that brought down the Glass-Steagall Act, which had protected consumers from financial calamity, and set up events that would lead to the Crash of 2008.

Future guests include former Poet Laureate, Rita Dove, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt, and Dr. Michio Kaku, physicist and co-founder of the string theory.

In an effort to create an extensive online presence in conjunction with this new series, BillMoyers.com will be expanded to offer full streaming of all “Moyers & Company” episodes, online-only essays, analytical blogs, interactive features, as well as an extensive video library of all Moyers’ past work in media.

“Moyers & Company” will air all new episodes, Friday nights at 9pm on 12.1.
