Colorado Public Television Transitioning Boulder Area Over-the-Air Signal

July 25, 2012

In advance of permanent tower site on Davidson Ridge, CPT12 signal in
Boulder (only) will fade temporarily

Denver, CO – Colorado Public Television (CPT12) is in the final stages of completing the installation of a new digital translator on Davidson Ridge, overlooking the Boulder Valley. The new translator will replace the current analog service and provide all three CPT12 digital channels to antenna viewers around Boulder. In addition, the new digital transmitter will provide fill-in service in Longmont, Louisville, and Lafayette where some antenna viewers have had difficulty receiving the main transmitter signal.

Timed to avoid risk to the returning student population, the current translator on top of Sterns West dormitory building on the University of Colorado-Boulder campus will be removed on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. During the interim period, only Boulder over-the-air viewers will lose the Colorado Public Television analog signal. The new digital service is expected to be available no later than September 1, 2012. Once operational, Boulder Valley viewers will need to rescan their converter box or HDTV tuner and will find CPT12’s three channels on 12.1, 12.2, and 12.3.

Boulder over-the-air viewers with internet access can continue to enjoy CPT12’s online programs at www.video.cpt12.org.
